World NGO Day is an international calendar day annually observed on the 27th of February.

Back in 2014, the 27th of February became a historic day for the NGO (non-profit) community across the globe. We dreamed big and we achieved it! The only decentralized international day for NGOs, “World NGO Day - 27th February”, was inaugurated. Throughout the years, millions of people have been active on World NGO Day in more than 89 countries and 6 continents. To date, it’s the only decentralized international day that celebrates the work of over 10 million NGOs (non-profit) worldwide! This represents more than 50 million people who work for the global non-profit sector as well as all the volunteers and philanthropists who are the backbone of our global community. “Around the world, non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are at the forefront supporting those who are most in need. They are at frontline delivering humanitarian relief, documenting human rights abuses and violations, and advocating for climate justice and gender equality.” Stated on the 27th February 2023 by The Honourable Josep Borrell, High Representative Of The European Union For Foreign Affairs And Security Policy & Vice-president Of The European Commission. “On World NGO Day, we honour the remarkable dedication and resilience of workers in international development and humanitarian assistance. These often-unsung heroes are committed to reaching vulnerable and marginalized people with responsive, inclusive and life-changing assistance.” Stated on the 27th February 2023 by The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development & Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada. “On World NGO Day, I thank all local NGOs as key partners of the Government in initiating and implementing programmes in local communities that ensure no one is left behind.” Stated on the 27th February 2023 by The Honourable Lindiwe Daphney Zulu, Minister of Social Development of South Africa.?
