At a time when some parts of the world seem confused about what is right and what is wrong, I was grateful to be able to attend the World Jewish Congress Theodor Herzl Award event in New York, where Ambassador Jon Huntsman Jr. received the WJC's highest recognition for his dedication to the right side of history. This man has the moral clarity and leadership to fight Jew-hatred.? On the same inspiring evening, courageous creative designer Tal Huber received the Teddy Kollek Award for advancing Jewish culture with her 'Kidnapped from Israel' campaign, which raised global awareness of the Israeli hostage crisis, 101 of whom are still somewhere in the dungeons of Gaza. This evening gave hope and inspiration that the love, goodness and kindness of so many people can overcome evil and hate.? #peace #hope Photos courtesy: Shahar Azran

WJC has been working with UNESCO for years to combat #Holocaust denial and distortion online, also in cooperation with Meta and TikTok. Social media users viewing content about the Holocaust are prompted to visit our page, www.AboutHolocaust.org, where they can get factual information. With so much misinformation being spread online, it is critical that young people have access to facts and verified sources.

#UNESCO is organizing a webinar on "The Holocaust: knowing the facts for accurate reporting", as part of UNESCO’s mission to foster peace and understanding through education, communication, and the preservation of historical facts, and in support of its mandate to promote freedom of expression and press freedom. I applaud #UNESCO for taking on this project and encourage journalists to participate! I'll be speaking alongside some experts in the fields of journalism and Holocaust studies. We are deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic murder of?Chabad.org?Rabbi Zvi Kogan in the United Arab Emirates. We condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the Jewish community in the UAE. The United Arab Emirates has emerged as a force for tolerance and coexistence in the Middle East, and we are confident that its leaders will ensure that justice is swiftly served and that such violence has no place in its society. The WJC stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in the Emirates and remains steadfast in our fight against antisemitism and hatred worldwide. Image ?? courtesy of Chabad.

? More than 2,500 supporters and changemakers gathered together in Dallas for an incredible four-day conference by Jewish National Fund - USA, filled with inspiring words, heartfelt stories, and a collective vision to rebuild and reimagine our communities and Israel’s future. ?? It was a great pleasure to participate in the conference and serve as a panelist for the World Jewish Congress, advocating for the impact and uniqueness of Jewish communities outside of Israel and the United States. It was an extra honor to share the stage with an all-women panel, each bringing strong and influential voices to the European Jewish world.

Participating in the annual event of the World Jewish Congress was an incredible opportunity for me to engage with global leaders dedicated to addressing the most pressing challenges facing the Jewish people and humanity. For me, the most important message to share during this event—and one I had the privilege of addressing in my speech—was the ongoing situation of the 101 hostages still held in Gaza. The "Kidnapped" campaign, launched after the devastating October 7th attacks, was a call to action that united millions worldwide to raise awareness and demand justice. We must continue to amplify the voices of the hostages and their families, ensuring their stories are not forgotten. This mission also sheds light on the ongoing fight against antisemitism, painfully reflected in the vandalization of the campaign’s posters—a reminder of the hatred that still persists. At the event, I was honored to receive the Teddy Kollek Award for creating the "Kidnapped" campaign and designing the posters that became a global symbol of solidarity and advocacy. This recognition is shared with everyone who has joined in this vital mission. Together, we can and must make a difference. https://lnkd.in/d3TJ2fkr #NeverForget #BringThemHome #FightAntisemitism photographer: Shahar Azran / WJC

Global Head of Strategy & Programs @ World Jewish Congress | Leadership Development | Diplomacy | Advocacy

As the Jewish people face unprecedented challenges, we also know exactly what can, shall and will be done to secure a better future. A crucial piece is the amazing efforts of tireless and highly motivated younger Jewish leaders, working side-by-side, independent of background, to create real long-term impact. This was clearly demonstrated at the recently concluded Jewish National Fund - USA conference in Dallas, where the World Jewish Congress' leadership development program - WJC Elevate - partnered with JNF to launch the Zionist Village Square Project. This project is the brainchild of younger Jewish leaders from across the globe and Israel's south. It encourages and educates participants to hold passionate but respectful and informed exchanges on shared values and a joint vision for the future, in the spirit of the Jewish concept of Machloket leShem Shamaim - debate for the greater good. We can all be inspired by the dedication and calibre of these younger leaders, and have great faith in their ability to move mountains when standing united as one. Have a look at the video from the event here: https://lnkd.in/e7KuiHSH

We express our deep gratitude to the United States for issuing a veto of today’s United Nations Security Council Resolution. The resolution failed to acknowledge the horrific terrorist attacks led by Hamas on October 7, 2023 and unjustly placed pressure on Israel rather than holding Hamas accountable for the current situation in Gaza. We also deeply appreciate that the United States spoke firmly during the Security Council session, emphasizing that Hamas remains the obstacle to a ceasefire agreement. The proposed resolution neglected to condition a ceasefire on the release of the remaining hostages being held in Gaza. This would have effectively rewarded Hamas for their actions on October 7th. It also omitted critical demands that?Iran and its proxies halt arms smuggling. Additionally, the inclusion of false claims that Israel is depriving Palestinians of basic services ignores Hamas’s exploitation of its population and misuse of resources for terror. More than a year after the tragic events of October 7th, Israel continues to defend its citizens, and the international community continues to overlook the ongoing threat posed by terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Achieving lasting peace requires a decisive rejection of terrorism. The UN and its member states must prioritize efforts to secure the release of hostages and address the enduring danger that Hamas poses - not only to Israel but also to the Palestinian people. It is time the Security Council acknowledges the culprits of this situation and designate Hamas for what it is – a terrorist organization. https://lnkd.in/eVPYtMd9
