Just wrapped up an exciting trip to Brussels for the World Ethanol & Biofuels Conference, representing OLYX! ?? The event was buzzing with industry leaders and experts, all ready to talk biofuels and shake up the market with latest tech innovations. Very cool. From chats with fellow ethanol and biofuel enthusiasts, we got into some big topics, like the impact of President Trump’s recent victory (round 2) on U.S. biofuels incentives – could we see a shake-up in U.S.-EU biofuel flows? Check out the latest from Argus Media and Fastmarkets (in the comment) for more on what that might mean. We also dug into Germany’s latest draft regulation that limits ticket quotas from rolling over to next year. This might mean tighter margins and, possibly, a renewed urgency for biofuel sourcing across the EU. Today I have attended the first day of World Ethanol & Biofuels in Brussels. I had the opportunity to contribute on two different occasions. The first was on a panel where we discussed public policies, and I was able to take the good Brazilian example of decarbonization through the use of ethanol, either by blending it into the gasoline or by the participation of flex fuel cars in our fleet. Then I was able to show how the European view of food vs. fuel competition doesn't apply to Brazil, with practical examples of our ethanol production from both sugar cane and corn.
