World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) is thrilled to have Board Director Joseph Thomas, I-CUDE representing us in Kenya this week!
KUSCCO convened a national consultative meeting with SACCO leaders in Nairobi ,reflecting on the Union's milestones over the years. KUSCCO's National Chairman ,Mr. David Mategwa, emphasized the Union's increased focus on advocacy within the SACCO sector, calling for support from SACCOs to champion the Cooperative Bill currently in the National Assembly. Mategwa noted that the Bill would enhance accountability and transparency in the sector. SACCO leaders at the meeting expressed their commitment to supporting KUSCCO during its ongoing transformation, while also acknowledging the Union's past successes. Government officials, including Cooperatives Principal Secretary ,Hon.Patrick Kilemi , Commissioner for Cooperatives David Obonyo, and SASRA CEO ,Peter Njuguna, were in attendance, alongside representatives from Co-operative Bank,CAK, WOCCU, and ACCOSCA. The keynote speaker was President and C.E.O of NextMark Credit Union and Vice Chairman of the World Council for Credit Unions (WOCCU), Mr. Joe Thomas.
