World Connect is celebrating International Women's Day by honoring the 1,506 women leaders we have invested in. 63% of our project investments have been led by #women. Francine Yankurije grew up in Banda, #Rwanda and became pregnant at 14. The father of her child was jailed after raping her, and her family rejected her for her early pregnancy. With support from Raise Hope Community to learn sewing and tailoring, and support from World Connect for materials and supplies, Francine has opened a #tailoring shop, generating income to feed her family, and is now teaching other #teenmothers her skills in #sewing. The project trained 30 teen mothers in sewing and tailoring. #Powerinsidewomen #InternationalWomensDay2025 #ActivatePowerInsideCommunities

Kicking off the new year with a beautiful film about a soapmaking initiative at a primary school in Rwanda that received a seed investment from World Connect, eradicating intestinal worms immediately and keeping children in school and parents at work. Last year World Connect made a second investment in this enterprising school community at Nyabirehe School, which is now building a soapmaking factory at the school to sell soap, distribute it to students, and donate it to families in need. #powerinsidecommunities #powerinsideschools #powerinsideRwanda #hygiene #soap
