2024 has become the deadliest year on record for humanitarians, driven by the war in Gaza. “Humanitarian workers are being killed at an unprecedented rate, their courage and humanity being met with bullets and bombs,” United Nations OCHA chief Tom Fletcher said. “This violence is unconscionable and devastating to aid operations,” he added, calling for the protection of those leaving all behind to help the most vulnerable people around the world.
