?? Check out how our team is uncovering hidden talent on LinkedIn by using Groups to find standout candidates who may not appear in typical searches. This strategy is proving invaluable in connecting with passionate professionals who bring unique skills and fresh perspectives to the table!

?? Sourcing Hidden Talent on LinkedIn: My (Recent) Under-the-Radar Strategy ?? If you’ve spent time with LinkedIn Recruiter, you know it’s great for narrowing down wide pools of candidates. But sometimes, the best folks don’t show up because they’re not using standard job titles or keywords. That’s where LinkedIn Groups come in—it’s been a bit of a secret weapon for me lately. Finding the Hidden Gems Some of the best candidates are hanging out in industry groups, sharing tips, or posting about passion projects. I’ve recently found amazing charter school finance leaders there who wouldn’t pop up in a typical search. ?? The Magic of Group Search The search bar in LinkedIn Groups is underrated. I use it to look up specific skills or keywords, and it’s helped me find candidates who are active and engaged—even when their job titles don’t match the usual search criteria. Making Friends, Not Just Connections Some of my best referrals have come from casual chats in group threads. It’s a reminder that recruiting isn’t just about finding candidates; it’s about building a network. If you haven’t tried using LinkedIn Groups yet, give it a go. It’s not a magic fix, but it’s a great supplement when you’re on the hunt for those hidden gems. Anyone else using Groups like this? I’d love to hear your stories! ?? ??? Ask a Recruiter: "My resume tells the story of a job-hopper, but I just want to plant roots. How do I ensure job-hopping isn’t the headline with potential employers?" I recently met with a client who has moved employers/cities every 1-2 years for the last five years, but they are much more interested in staying and growing somewhere over time. They are wondering how to frame their past movement and their goals with hiring teams. Here are some recommendations: 1?? Instead of focusing on all the moves right away, share the problems you solve for an employer (i.e. “I turn-around low-performing campuses” or “I develop comprehensive communication strategies for districts seeking to overhaul their brand.” THAT is the headline, not every role you’ve ever had. 2?? Next, share the benefits of having moved - the context you bring having worked across regions and/or types of employers, the ability to learn and adapt quickly. 3?? Emphasize that at this point in your career, you are eager to plant roots and grow. Share your own reflections about the environment you seek and the work you are most excited to perform and how that aligns closely with this particular employer. If you feel comfortable, you can name the elephant in the room: “You may notice I’ve moved frequently over the last few years as I’ve progressed in my leadership. At this point in my career, I’m eager to plant roots and do so in a place that [share what you are looking for].” Moving roles/employers is VERY common these days, so know that employers have a more open mind as they are hiring talent. Framing your story in a way that shows how your varied experience is a value-add to this employer can be incredibly strategic as you interview for new roles. ?? Teamwork makes the dream work, and last week, the WorkTogether team proved it! We gathered in Austin, Texas, with team members flying in from across the country to regroup, recenter, and refocus on our purpose: transforming how mission-driven organizations connect with diverse, high-impact leaders. As a fully remote team, many of us were meeting in person for the first time, which made our time together extra special. We packed the week with brainstorming sessions to discover new ways to serve JobSeekers and Employers and strategized on expanding our reach. A tour of Austin Achieve Public Schools reminded us of the significance our work has on young people’s futures. ?? Of course, no WorkTogether retreat would be complete without a taste of Texas! We shared brisket and tacos at some of Austin’s best spots—Taco Deli, Terry Black’s BBQ, and Licha’s Cantina. ?? This retreat in the heart of the Texas capital gave us the space to reconnect and recharge. We can’t wait to share the exciting updates we have in store for the year ahead! ?? #WorkTogether #AustinTexas #EducationEquity #Recruiting
