Now more than ever, we must champion local investment in our communities. Prosperity Programs (HB 3669) is a state bill that will secure essential funding for workforce development services—but it needs strong, visible support to move forward. Your voice can make the difference! Here's how you can help: ✅ The House Committee On Higher Education and Workforce Development is holding a public hearing on Thursday, March 6 at 8am. Share a letter of support at https://lnkd.in/gfbn__Ax ✅ Visit https://lnkd.in/gHYweEbd to add your logo to our one-pager. Why is this legislation so important? Prosperity Programs are the key to unlocking the potential of thousands of Oregonians at risk of being left behind. Funding for Prosperity 10,000 (P10K) expires this year, and we must reinvest in these essential and effective programs. The bill, chiefly sponsored by Representative Daniel Nguyen, will build upon P10K’s success. In Multnomah and Washington counties alone, over 2,200 people have enrolled, achieving a 94% completion rate. 78% of participants who were unemployed at the time of enrollment are now employed. Overall, participants are earning an average wage of $23.60/hr through January 2025.

Worksystems is honored to receive the US Conference of Mayor's DollarWise Innovation Grant, awarded by the City of Beaverton! This $10,000 grant will strengthen West Side Works, a program designed to support the economic recovery and workforce needs of preschool centers in Washington County.   West Side Works bridges the gap between Portland Community College’s Early Childhood Education students and eligible preschools and childcare centers, covering their initial months of employment. Many participants go on to secure permanent positions, helping to build a more stable early childhood workforce.   Originally developed to address Washington County’s childcare desert—especially following the pandemic when one in five preschool workers left the industry and did not return—West Side Works tackles workforce shortages while ensuring affordable childcare for families, hands-on experience for future educators, and fair wages for workers. Read more about the program in this WorkingNation article:  https://lnkd.in/g8ZxYVMs We want to thank Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty for championing this effort, along with Washington County Commissioners Pamela Treece and Chair Kathryn Harrington, the City of Beaverton, and the Washington County Department of Economic Development for their support.
