Workers are seeking a lot more training and guidance on how to actually use AI tools in their jobs — and getting little help from their employers. Instead, they say they’re being expected to teach themselves how to use new technology as it’s introduced with little information or guidance around use cases and how to really operate the tools, according to recent surveys. Here’s a look at some stats illustrating workers’ current comfort levels with AI use, from surveys conducted by Gallup and Wiley.

The rise of generative AI has caused Gen Z to get serious about upskilling, underscoring their professional drive. Unlike prior generations, the survey revealed, Gen Z places a high value on learning new skills, particularly those tied to career growth and job security. That focus presents a significant opportunity for HR leaders around creating more personalized and engaging learning and development programs.

While the state of corporate DEI programs is in flux, more companies are paying attention to a traditionally overlooked group in the workplace — those who are neurodivergent. Awareness around neurodiversity, which can include conditions such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia, among others, has grown rapidly in the past few years thanks to social media. With more workers identifying as neurodivergent themselves, they’re expecting better support from their employers — and that their supervisors are properly trained to manage them and help with any accommodations they need to do their best work in their roles. A new survey found that 7 in 10 employers would like to target their employee benefits but find it too complicated to do so. That hesitation comes at a time when the benefits landscape is rapidly evolving. “Benefits are constantly being advanced to offer more specific support for more specific needs,” said Debra Clark, head of well-being at Towergate Insurance. For example, benefits around neurodiversity, fertility, eldercare and menopause were pretty much unheard of not so long ago but have since become more mainstream.
