?? Women’s Health is Workforce Health – It’s Time to Act At WorkInHealth Foundation, we know that a strong workforce starts with healthy people—yet women’s health continues to be deprioritized, underfunded, and ignored. As we mark International Women’s Day, we can’t ignore the stark reality: Women are the backbone of healthcare, life sciences, and innovation—but the system isn’t built for us. ?? Here’s what needs to change: ?? Women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health than men. ?? Less than 2% of healthcare research funding goes to conditions that disproportionately affect women. ?? Until 1993, women were excluded from clinical trials—and today, many treatments are still tested primarily on men. ?? If we closed the women’s health gap, we could unlock $1 TRILLION in economic benefits by 2040. ?? This is not just a women’s issue—it’s an economic, workforce, and innovation issue. ?? The Blueprint for Change: ? Data matters – We need better, sex-disaggregated health data to drive real impact. ? Research must be inclusive – Clinical trials must reflect all women—across ages, ethnicities, and health conditions. ? Investment is critical – Women’s health isn’t niche—it’s half the population, half the workforce, and an economic imperative. ? Workplace health policies must evolve – Employers and healthcare systems must prioritize women’s health across all life stages. ?? At WorkInHealth Foundation, we are committed to bridging this gap—by advocating for workforce policies, innovation, and investment that truly reflect the needs of women in healthcare and beyond. ?? Read the full WEF report on Women’s Health: ?? Blueprint to Close the Women’s Health Gap 2025 ?? What’s one change that workplaces and healthcare systems should implement to better support women’s health? ??? “The focus in healthcare is to a large extent on services delivered and processes followed, and not on the health outcomes that matter to patients,” says member of the Impact Council at Gilde Healthcare, Christina R?ngemark ?kerman.
