?????? Sheriff Lew Evangelidis was FACE2FACE with Murdock Middle/High School Students ?????? For over a decade, Sheriff Evangelidis has delivered the Sheriff's Office's signature drug and alcohol youth prevention presentation to schools across Worcester County. This presentation has been put in front of over 400,000 students and works to address the many myths in our school systems about drug and alcohol use. For this presentation, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office was proud to co-present with a representative from the Drug Enforcement Administration - New England. The opioid epidemic and general substance abuse are killing our young people. Prevention through education makes students think twice before they even start!

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office was well represented last week at the Southern Worcester County Community Resource Fair at the Tri-Community Family Branch YMCA of Central Massachusetts in Southbridge! ??????

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office Basic Recruit Training Academy #63 is officially underway! ?????? Week one officially concluded on Friday. The recruits were introduced to many new and different topics, including Standards of Conduct, CORI Law, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Radio Procedures, Emergency Response to Incidents, Sexual and Protected Class Harassment, Stress Management, and Health and Wellness. They were also introduced to our physical fitness program. B.R.T.A. #63 has a long journey ahead of them, but they are eager to see what the next 12 weeks have in store!

On Monday, 21 individuals embark on a journey to begin a new career with the Worcester County Sheriff's Office. ???? After 13 long weeks of classroom learning, physical training, and on-the-job training, these 21 men and women will be ready to join the full-time ranks at the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction. Over the weekend, nearly two dozen Worcester County Sheriff's Office employees and friends of the Sheriff's Office took the plunge at Polar Park for the LETR Worcester Mobile Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts. Collectively, WCSO raised over $3,300 to support the cause. ??????

This week the Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) the Guard and Reserve recognized newly promoted Worcester County Sheriff's Office Assistant Deputy Superintendent Jason Dickhaut as a Patriotic Employer. ???????????? As a WCSO Corrections Officer and member of the US National Guard, WCSO Officer Clauther Vincent nominated ADS Dickhaut for his efforts to support the WCSO staff members as they navigated working full-time and their commitment to the National Guard. Before being promoted to ADS, Dickhaut served as the Captain of scheduling and happily worked with those who were dually committed to WCSO and the National Guard.
