#WomensHistoryMonth For nearly three years, Andrea Sullivan has been the dedicated Deputy Director of the Worcester JCC. Prior to this role, she led as the Development and Special Projects Director, fundraising to support scholarships and vital programs. Andrea's passion for community engagement began when she settled in Worcester after studying at WPI. Through active involvement in her children's school, she discovered her talent for fundraising and nonprofit work, leading her to a fulfilling career serving Worcester’s families. Andrea serves on the Board of Directors for Women in Development of Central Massachusetts, supporting and learning from fellow local fundraisers. She also dedicates time to volunteering to uplift local nonprofits. Andrea was recognized as a 2023 Worcester Woman to Watch and received the 2023 WPS Thomas Jefferson Award for her outstanding service in promoting equity and excellence for all students. I was truly fascinated with what Mike Sullivan and Tom McCarthy were able to do with the New Haven, Conneticut JCC Fitnesd Center. They literslly turned a storage closet into a semi-private training space and that in itself has created a variety of opportunities for the members, trainers, and community. Its been a while since the Worcester JCC has had a facelift but its been well maintained over the years. I am hoping to get some professional eyes on the space we have and learn how we can maximize (see picture of our layout). Worcester JCC is a special place with lots of history. We are gearing up for a promising 2025 and want to give our members the best experience possible! Over the past two days, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the New England JCC Professionals Conference—a truly inspiring experience that brought together so many bright and like-minded individuals who are passionate about creating a better future for their communities. This gathering reminded me how powerful collaboration can be when we work toward a shared vision of inclusion, community, and impact. As someone who recently started my role as Marketing and Resource Development at the Worcester JCC , this conference was not just a learning experience but also a chance to reaffirm the importance of the work we do. I am particularly excited to apply what I’ve learned about leveraging resources to tell authentic stories, creating campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences, and building programs that foster belonging and empowerment. I want to express my thanks to Scott Cohen , Executive Director of the JCC of Greater New Haven, for hosting this incredible event. Your leadership and thoughtful planning made this year’s conference unforgettable, and I am grateful that my first experience at this event was a meaningful one.
