In collaboration with the Worcester Business Journal, "Cashing in on Cannabis" shows the growth of excise tax collection on cannabis sales across Worcester County since they were first collected in FY19. Beginning with three communities in FY19, the number of communities collecting excise taxes on cannabis grew to 23 of 60 in FY24, and in that time cannabis excise revenues have contributed greatly to revenue generation -- ranging from less than 1% of total excise tax collected in some communities to nearly 42% in others. Additionally, "Cashing in on Cannabis" shows the locations of adult cannabis establishments by license type and disadvantaged business enterprises status across Worcester County. The visuals were created with data from the Massachusetts Division of Local Services and the Massachusetts' Cannabis Control Commission's Open Data catalog. #WorcPoli View WRRB's Visualization: https://lnkd.in/ew7jDhAV Read WBJ's Coverage: https://lnkd.in/eR5faZtx
