Hi Connections, This weekend I had the opportunity to participate in the Woohack 25 Hackethon hosted by Google Developer Student Clubs | WooGDSC! It was an incredible journey where I had the pleasure of working alongside brilliant minds—huge shoutouts to my amazing team members Erin Stilley, Mandy Chen, and Genie Kang, and our inspirational organizers, Minh Phan and Mastewal Berhe Our hard work paid off as ???? ?????????????? ?? ???????? ???? ?????? ?????? 3!! and I'm proud of what we achieved together. The event was a fantastic opportunity to learn, innovate, and collaborate under pressure. The event was fantastic, but what truly stood out for me were the personal lessons learned: - Working with a diverse team opened my eyes to new ideas and innovative solutions that I wouldn't have discovered on my own. - Embracing challenges and pushing my boundaries not only improved my technical skills but also strengthened my resilience and adaptability. First Hackathon: WooHack 2025 This past weekend, I participated in WooHack 2025, my first-ever hackathon! Teaming up with Akhmad Mamirov and William Sieber as Team River, we tackled the challenge of mitigating California wildfires. I took on frontend development, which pushed me to my limits—debugging county boundaries and battling color mappings had me questioning everything. But through it all, I rediscovered my love for coding: the late nights, problem-solving, and persistence that fuel innovation. Introducing Heatin-Cali ?? A real-time wildfire risk assessment tool featuring: - Interactive Risk Map – Displays fire risk by county (Green = Safe, Red = Danger) - County-Specific Data – Click to see real-time risk forecasts - Machine Learning Model – Predicts fire risk with 78% accuracy - Built with: LeafletJS, Scikit-Learn, Random Forest Classifier, Wifire Commons, Google Colab Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gZj7cJ9Y https://lnkd.in/gY2tjzRW While the ending is a little bittersweet not coming up with the win the experience as a whole was great.
