?Employee Spotlight ? Ethan Lursen, West Region Assistant Project Manager Ethan is a Fort Dodge native, who started with Woodruff as a Project Manager intern in the summer of 2023 before returning to UNI for his final year in Construction Management. Ethan has been around construction most of his life, between his family’s HVAC business or helping with their rental properties, so continuing this path seemed natural for him when deciding what he wanted to do as a career. After graduating in May of 2024, he returned to Fort Dodge to begin his full-time role as an Assistant Project Manager. He said his Woodruff internship provided a solid foundation for using his education and skills in a real-world setting. “Transitioning from an internship to full-time has allowed me to take on more responsibility and contribute to larger projects,” Ethan said. “I’ve noticed a shift in my involvement, as I am now more integrated into the team and have a more significant impact on the projects we undertake.” Recently, Ethan has been involved in various projects in the West Region, including estimating the renovation of restrooms and offices at his alma mater, St. Edmond’s Catholic High school. He said it’s been a challenging project, requiring him to adapt and design solutions on the fly. “This experience is teaching me a lot about flexibility and creative problem solving,” he said. One of his favorite projects to date has been working on the MIDAS building renovations in Fort Dodge, helping with more of the on-site construction aspect. As an intern, he was also involved with the HVAC renovation at the Webster County Courthouse, contributed to the Perry WWTP project, and assisted with the final stages of the Iowa Falls Hospital project. Before returning to school, he also had a hand in the initial stages of the Bert and Titonka Water Treatment Facilities jobs. When looking at how he envisions his career path, he said at some point exploring the Business Development side of construction sounds interesting. For now, he’s focused on learning as much as he can in his role, while contributing to projects and his team’s successes. His top Core Values are Dependability and Purpose. “I believe that being reliable forms the foundation of all professional relationships and endeavors,” Ethan said. “Dependability ensures that others trust your contributions, thereby providing a clear purpose and direction in one’s work.” Outside of work, Ethan enjoys keeping busy – working a part-time gig, tinkering with cars, and watching or playing sports. Ethan played soccer for two years at Iowa Central, and then another two years for the UNI Men’s Soccer Club, and is an avid golfer.

Today we recognize all of our double-digit anniversaries for the month of November! Central Region superintendent Jared Corder and Project Manager Cory Reiereson are both celebrating 12 years with the company. Garrett Keller is welcomed into the double-digits group, hitting 10 years this month. ?Employee Spotlight ? Ashley Oziemkowski, Marketing & Engagement Coordinator Ashley grew up in Boone and attended Iowa State University for journalism with an emphasis in visual communications. After graduation, she worked mostly in the print industry, spending eight years at Sigler in Ames prior to joining the Woodruff team as the Marketing & Engagement Coordinator in June 2022. “I thought the job sounded interesting, and provided me the ability to stretch my creativity and use my design and marketing skills while learning an entirely new industry,” she said. “After working closely with Woodruff as a client at my previous job, I knew it would be a great company to work for.” Ashley enjoys getting to meet the employees in each region, and visiting job sites to learn more about the different projects Woodruff works on across the state. Her favorite part of her job is that no two days are the same. “I do so many things between managing our social media accounts, designing and updating marketing materials, managing our website, attending career fairs, and planning events – just to name a few,” she said. “I recently took on the role of putting together our RFQs and RFPs for the Business Development team, and it’s allowed me to use my visual design skills to help Woodruff stand out from the competition and make an impression on potential clients. It’s also been really fun getting to dive into social media marketing since that’s where we can reach both future employees and potential clients at the same time.” Her career goals include staying at Woodruff long-term and continuing to develop new ways to spread the Woodruff brand so that we remain one of the top contractors that people look at when considering a project. The Core Value that resonates most with Ashley is “Family Comes First” and she appreciates the focus on having a good work/life balance. “I’m able to attend school activities and sporting events for my kids so that I don’t feel like I’m missing out – that’s super important to me,” she said.
