That’s right! It is squirrel birthing season and we are already aware of some squirrel mothers with newborns! Find more wildlife information here https://lnkd.in/e-CCR3ZJ Be prepared if you encounter an animal in need. FACTS: Squirrels nest in tree hollows, leaf nests, buildings they can access from the outside, and occasionally in vehicle engines! Reuniting is possible and is always the first course of action if an infant is found and there is no known information about the mother having come to harm. Mother squirrels have a secondary nest they can move their young to if necessary. Never feed or water infants as this could do harm. Call for advice when needed! Happy Groundhog Day, everyone! ?????? Here's to the little critter who plays the part of Mother Nature's meteorologist. Will it be an early spring or a longer winter? ??vs ?? And remember, no matter what the groundhog predicts, let's make the most of every day, every season! Check out this great article for more fun facts about these little critters that have their own holiday. https://lnkd.in/eB32aAZY Did you know? Groundhogs are true hibernators, entering a deep sleep in October and emerging in early spring. During hibernation, a groundhog's temperature drops from 99° F to 40° F, and its heartbeat slows from 80 beats per minute to 5. During this time, groundhogs survive on the fat reserves that they accumulate from their hefty summer and fall diets. #GroundhogDay #ShadowOrNoShadow ???????
