Our partnership with the City of Groveland, FL began in 2019 as an operations contract for the city’s water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utilities. Since then, we tapped our engineering, SCADA, and funding experts to take a holistic look at the city’s utilities and create a sound Utility Master Plan and Capital Improvement Plan. Take a deeper dive into the work we have done that is helping to position this central Florida city for future residential and commercial growth! ?? https://bit.ly/3Lmu5HM #CleanWater #HealthyCommunities #WaterOperations #FloridaWater #EngineeringTheFuture #CityWithNaturalCharm

We recognize the critical role veterans have played in establishing and protecting our freedoms. This #VeteransDay, we honor the veterans in our organization and across the world. We encourage everyone to shake a veteran’s hand, attend a local parade, volunteer with a veterans service organization, and honor those who put their country before themselves. This year, we are proud to donate to the Gary Sinise Foundation to honor our veterans. Check out how Civil Engineer Robert Angelo, PE and our Community Development team have installed another green stormwater control measure in the City of Somerville, MA! Partnering with our clients, we create innovative, multi-beneficial projects that boost resiliency, foster growth, and support community visions. In densely populated Somerville, our team overcame numerous challenges, including utility conflicts and high groundwater, to install this new lined biofiltration system. This Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) will significantly reduce pollutants from stormwater runoff and has become a neighborhood focal point! #GreenInfrastructure #Stormwater #CommunityDevelopment #GSI #UrbanPlanning #Biofiltration
DJ Khalid once said “Anotha One” Another Green Stormwater Control Measure installed in the City? (Lined Biofiltration) (Almost… ??go in next spring) Constraints are never ending when it comes to siting Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) in urban areas, especially when limited to space within the right of way. Somerville is one of the most densely (if not the most) populated cities in Massachusetts. Most of the City streets are lined with residential buildings (the famous Somerville triple deckers) just a few feet apart. Residential utility services take up most of the space below ground, while much needed parking spaces, sidewalks, and driveway aprons take up all of the space above ground. We reviewed a large area of the city of Somerville and identified several different potential locations where GSI could be implemented. The location shown in the photos here was not one of them. This location had utility conflicts, high groundwater, and steep roadway grades. All of these factors contributed to initially ruling this area out. Credit to the City for not taking no for an answer and opening up opportunity in this area by allowing the relocation of utilities to fit in a system (this rarely happens during these type of retrofit pursuits). Careful design and construction was required to tier the system and optimize its performance. This particular system showed how challenging GSI in the city can be and how limited the tolerances are as the system’s design and construction came down to just inches in several locations. There were some hiccups and a lot of lessons learned along the way, but huge thanks to everyone involved that helped make this happen! This system will reduce solids, phosphorus, and nitrogen from stormwater runoff that filters through it, and really is now the Focal Point of the neighborhood!
