?? Yesterday (March 4), US natural #gas imports from Canada totalled 4.5 Bcf. This volume is the lowest so far registered this year, marking a notable distance from the 2025-high of 10.4 Bcf reached on January 21st. The timing of this decline is particularly interesting given the current intergovernmental issues around North American trade—in short, it coincides with the start of 10% US tariffs on Canadian energy resources and minerals and the Canadian government’s retaliatory moves. But when zooming into the fundamental drivers, it may be too soon to consider trade-related shifts as the main factors. The chart below illustrates how Canadian imports have closely tracked US demand trends, reinforcing the view that the recent drop is aligned with lower consumption in the Lower 48 rather than indicating any structural supply disruption. This analysis is possible thanks to insight from our Natural Gas Supply and Demand product suite. Find out more here: https://okt.to/5rHaKZ
