I think one of the interesting point around the Q star conversation is covered in this article to some degree. It feels like we are still minimizing the rate of learning growth that AI can have. In other words, humans in labs work with machines on basic problem sets like elementary school mathematics. The general public feels comfortable that 'hey, that's a non-threatening problem.' But the reality is that we are teaching fundamentals that position machines to leapfrog at speeds we haven't seen in the past. So then everyone gets blindsided and it causes anxiety, reactiveness and possibly responses that don't help. I believe we have to get better at a) explaining what is happening and b) realistically detailing the projections of what may happen as the lab experiments prove successful. Regulators need to understand this.
