Astro Information Security welcome to the world!! ????

?? Announcing ASTRO Information Security ?? Hello world, I’m K.O., and I’m here to change the cybersecurity industry. This passion was inspired a few years ago when I received a call from a hospital executive who was in tears, struggling to save lives during a ransomware attack. That experience changed me - and I’ve dedicated the last decade to pushing the limits of my skills in cybersecurity, from leading teams at NASA's Security Operations Center to designing security solutions in multibillion dollar architectures at Cisco. Today, I’m excited to introduce ASTRO Information Security—a collective of passionate cybersecurity pros with over 50+ years of combined experience, 30+ industry acclaimed certifications, and over 30,000 security investigations under our belt! We’re here to protect you whether you’re a small businesses, nonprofit, and/or hospital that is tired of feeling vulnerable. At ASTRO, we offer comprehensive cybersecurity services, including penetration testing (internal/external/web/API/red teaming), SOC maturity assessments, and 24x7 managed detection and response. Our goal is simple: to secure not just your organization, but your dreams and livelihood. So if you or someone you know has any needs for cybersecurity, I would love to have a conversation with you! Let’s make the world a safer place online, together. Excited to be part of WomenWhoSecure as a Social Media Admin Volunteer. My interest in supporting others dates back to my time as a First-Year Experience Mentor during my undergraduate career. I enjoyed creating flyers and infographics for my mentees. I’m thrilled to reignite that passion within this community as they continue to foster a more inclusive and secure environment for women and non-binary individuals in cybersecurity. ??

This Spring semester I took an Information Risk Management course where I had the opportunity to work with the Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT). During this project, I was able to lead my team to deliver a guidebook for the NIST CSF 1.1 controls. This guidebook will serve as a tool for state agencies to receive examples of the best ways on implementing these controls and a list of open-source tools that will assist in maintaining and ensuring compliance. This was such a great experience to lead, network and grow an in-depth understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. I am excited for what else is in store during this program.

Girls Belong in Tech: Empowering women today for a tech-inclusive tomorrow ?????? "According to?UNICEF’s report on Mapping Gender Equality in STEM from School to Work, evidence of gender bias in STEM emerges as early as primary school. While a girl’s proficiency in STEM can initially be influenced by factors such as her place of birth and family’s socioeconomic status, prevalent barriers and biases persist even in the most developed countries, affecting girls from higher socioeconomic backgrounds. In this context, Lenovo’s 'Girls Belong in Tech' initiative, recently hosted at our Morrisville, NC headquarters, takes on even greater significance. This event, in partnership with education nonprofit NAF, symbolizes our collective commitment to nurturing the next generation of female tech leaders, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to thrive in the tech industry.? More than 250 students from across NC participated in the half-day event. The event showcased a range of activities designed to inspire, educate, and motivate young women in tech. From dynamic networking sessions to immersive coding workshops and insightful panel discussions, every aspect of the event was meticulously crafted to break down barriers and foster a culture of inclusivity and empowerment. Girls Belong in Tech was designed four years ago by a high school intern working at Lenovo.? The program has grown annually and received positive feedback from students and teachers.? 'The leaders of the event were very encouraging and welcoming' said an attendee this spring 'They made me feel like I could be something more.'" #WomenInSTEM #GirlsInSTEM #STEMGems #GiveGirlsRoleModels https://lnkd.in/exsCsKUn
