2024 Project Friedman wrap up ? It's hard to believe how quickly the seven months of our 2024 Project Friedman program have flown by. Last week, at #cybercon2024, our participants stood on the stage and presented for the first time and WOW - they blew us away! While everyone's public speaking journey was so different, they all came in to the program motivated to conquer whatever was holding them back, grow in confidence and learn. Upon reflection this week, we (Louisa Partridge and Louisa Vogelenzang) have been reminded why we started this program. It's so much more than a public speaking coaching program. The community and supportive network that these women have also built over the seven months has been beautiful to watch. They will be forever connected ?? It takes a village to run this program and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported our participants. Our mentors, coaches and everyone who filled the seats in their rooms at #cybercon and listened to their presentations. Your presence, attention, support and kindness made all the difference in their journeys! Role models play a critical role in helping to inspire us to see what we can be.?When we don’t see ourselves represented on stage keynoting about cybersecurity at a conference, this helps to re-enforce the notion that ‘we’ don’t belong here. And these 17 Women, combined with the almost 50 that have participated in Project Friedman before them, are helping to grow the number of role models we have in the Cyber industry. Congratulations Mia Araminta | Claire C. | Adela Ramadhina | Abigail Fitzgerald | ?? Caitlin S. | Anita Shepherd | Sharee Alarco | Pragati Mehrotra | Lauren Veenstra | Chris Williams | Joanna Lescai | Nikki Mehta | Anjali V. | Luisa Amanda, CRISC, CISA, CC | Biljana R. | Mandy Ho | Eva C. on completing the Program. We cannot wait to see you all continue to shine on stages all over the world ?? ?? #womenspeakcyber

Encouraging and supporting women speakers and aspiring speakers, in the cybersecurity industry
关于我们
2017 - Women speak cyber was an initiative founded in Australia by Louisa Vogelenzang and Louisa Partridge in response to the lack of gender diversity in speakers at cyber security conferences in Australia. Initially a LinkedIn group of women speakers was established, to ensure women cyber security speakers were visible to conference organisers. Women Speak Cyber then envolved into a movement to support, encourage and assist current and aspiring women speakers in cyber security. 2019 - Pilot project #projectFriedman was established. The project saw 9 new women speakers become 'conference ready' through professional speaker coaching by Emily Edgeley. Project Friedman was co-founded with the Australian Women's in Security Network and was supported by generous sponsorship from the cybersecurity industry and federal government. 2020 - Women Speak Cyber officially became a social enterprise with sponsorship from the Australian Federal Government for further programs. Project Friedman was a finalist in The Women In Security Awards 'Project of the Year'. 2020 to 2022 - Women Speak Cyber programs delivered a 2nd round of our 'Project Friedman' public speaking coaching program for 1st time conference speakers, a 12 part podcast series ' Women Speak Cyber' that provided tools and inspirational stories for aspiring women speakers in cyber security, as well as a 'Presenter Polish' speaker coaching program, elevating existing women cybersecurity speakers 2023 - Women Speak Cyber merged our funding and programs under AWSN - Australian Women in Security Network, this decision was taken to ensure our programs can help even more women in cybersecurity to gain valuable public speaking skills by leveraging AWSN's reach and operational resources. We will continue to volunteer our time under the AWSN Banner to continue our mission to ensure equal representation of gender, in the voices of the cybersecurity industry.

Security Professionals are familiar with the Privacy Act but not so much the Corproations Act or Not for Profit’s ACNC Governance Standards. NFPs and SMEs often do hold large amounts of PII, be aware of the information you hold. Thank you to Melissa Wingard for presenting at #AISACyberCon2024 and for the Star Wars, I mean Star Trek themed talk https://lnkd.in/gEvWfRkE
