Our Friends, Tom and Tina, would like to remind everyone that the Memorial will be closed for Thanksgiving from Wednesday, November 27 at 12PM until Saturday, November 30 at 9AM, when we will reopen again with our normal operating schedule. We close out today's celebration of our SPARS with this Her Story Spotlight. Elizabeth “Betty” Splaine joined the U.S. Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, the SPARS, during World War II. She continued her service after the war for another twenty years, becoming the Coast Guard’s first female warrant officer in 1958.
