Last Friday marked the start of my #Leadership Transition as I kicked off my first #WENHouston transition meeting! Timing couldn’t have been more perfect with being in Utah a week before for the 2025 #WEN global leadership transition meeting! Thank you to the Utah chapter of the #WomensEnergyNetwork for being such wonderful hosts and Gillian Flick and Sally Hallingstad for leading the transition. Connecting with leaders from across the network, sharing insights, and learning from each other’s experiences is always invaluable. A huge thank you to Lidiya T. Deane, ASA for passing the torch and for setting the stage with a look at the incredible 2024 accomplishments — *ART!* I had the opportunity to share my strategic vision for 2025, and then the current and incoming board came together to reflect on the ‘roses and thorns’ of 2024 while planning for an even stronger #WENH year ahead. Thank you to the 2024 & 2025 Board for your participation. We wrapped up the day with a creative team-building session that offered a glimpse of my leadership style and approach for the year ahead. A special thanks to #VibrantPopBlossoms for leading a memorable blooming session, helping to spark creativity and collaboration within our team. Today, November 25th, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofViolenceAgainstWomen will mark the launch of the?#UNiTEcampaign?(Nov 25- Dec 10) — an initiative of?16 days?of activism concluding on the day that commemorates the?International #HumanRightsDay?(10 December). Every 11 minutes, a woman is killed, UNiTE to End Violence against Women.?Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the world. Globally, almost one in three women have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both, at least once in their life. This past week I was able to attend the Women's Energy Network Global transition meeting in Salt Lake City. It was two days of planning and strategic thinking for my upcoming presidency with Women's Energy Network Greater Pittsburgh! I met some truly amazing women and feel very energized for the next year!

My favorite “hobby” is connecting amazing people and I’m fortunate to have both a job and volunteer gig that allow me to do it regularly. ?? Structured leadership content surrounded by idea sharing and organic meet-ups are the main reasons why Women's Energy Network Global plans the annual #LeadershipTransitionMeeting for #ChapterLeaders, and this week’s #WEN2024 meeting did NOT disappoint! We met in Salt Lake City for three days and once again, thanks to the amazing women who carved out time to join us, “my cup runneth over.” Bring on #WEN2025. ???? Massive kudos to Gillian Flick for being an incredible #WENLeader (this post doesn’t do you justice) and to Anne Fehr, CAE, Allison Gilliam Martin, Aurora Pullar, and Amantha Cook for being the most amazing coworkers a non-paid employee could ask for! Truly an #ATeam that will never be duplicated. #FRFR Grateful for Tina Maniatis, Ronda Landa, and Women's Energy Network Utah for hosting their holiday mixer so we could meet even more amazing #WENWomen. ?? Today, November 5th, is #ElectionDay in the United States. #Didyouknow The women’s suffrage movement was a decades-long fight to win the right to vote for women in the United States. It took activists and reformers nearly 100 years to win that right, and the campaign was not easy: Disagreements over strategy threatened to cripple the movement more than once. But on August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was finally ratified, enfranchising all American women and declaring for the first time that they, like men, deserve all the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
