"A recent study showed that?50% of women leave their careers in tech by the age of thirty-five. This rate is 45% higher than the rate at which men leave their careers in tech. Many assume this career cliff has to do with women reprioritizing and focusing on their families, but often, the reason many women abandon their careers in tech at this staggering rate is because of how hard it is to be the “only.”" This is a great read, and just another reason why WomSA is trying to replace 'only' with 'many.'

One week ago today the Women's Security Alliance was presented with a very generous donation from SIM Detroit resulting from their #MTL executive conference. The WomSA board is so thankful for this donation. Our organization is 100% volunteer driven and we charge nothing for our services. We are here to help people enter and advance in cybersecurity careers and strengthen the talent pool in communities. It's so nice when those communities circle back and support us. Thank you SIM Detroit, Steve York, MBA, Chuck Williams, and the entire team that made this possible!!! As we close out Women's History Month, I want to celebrate all I've learned and the women who have shared their knowledge in solidarity of knowing we still have a long way to go, but we can get there together if we continue to celebrate each other. As President of our Women at Jack Henry Business Innovation Group, the amazing leadership team (Hannah Boullion, Melissa Miller, Stacy Fox) and I had the privilege of being introduced to amazing women who then blessed our membership with amazing wisdom. We were introduced to the amazing career that Kristie Pfosi has had to far, paving the way in a traditionally male dominated roles in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and now leading a team as a CISO at Delta Fauset. Aside from learning to speak up for ourselves and ask for what we want in our careers, one of the greatest take aways was learning of the Women's Security Alliance and their mission to empower women in Cyber Security. Women doing more amazing things for each other. Thank you Benjamin Achtenberg for being a great ally and bringing Kristie to us! We also were introduced to Dr. Denise McCurdy who also paved a way for us women first as a Telecommunication Engineer, and then into executive roles, and now has taken her experience as a woman in leadership to help others by coaching and mentoring as an Executive Partner with Gartner. Her discussion on How to Flourish under pressure and manage Conflict, fortunately (but unfortunately), resonated with so many of our members. It was a good reminder on how to communicate and that we can speak up for ourselves. Thank you to Simoriah Stogner for the formal introduction and Rob Zelinka for sponsoring the event and being an amazing Ally to the Women at Jack Henry. I also was given the opportunity to uplevel through a Google Launchpad for Women hosted by Kate Kustermann Rivera, facilitated by the amazing Charlene Banks, and sponsored for us WomenatJH by #jackhenry. Women encouraging and fostering space to grow together was such an amazing experience. And I'm now certified as a Cloud Digital Leader. Top that all off with a mentoring session with the beautiful Kimberly Cotton. Her wisdom and experience is truly keeping me motivated and focused for all the goodness to come. Can't wait to continue the growth together! Let's not let the momentum of the month stop. Celebrate your achievements and keep growing everyday! #yougotthis #womenshistorymonth #leadershipdevelopment #supporteachother #learning #DEIB
