?? Raihal Fajri is proof of the transformative power of investing in women’s leadership. In Sumatra’s Leuser Ecosystem—a critical region for global climate stability—deforestation and extractive industries threaten vital ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Amid these challenges, Raihal, a WEA Leader and Program Lead for our Advocacy and Entrepreneurship Accelerator, is safeguarding her community while advancing solutions that protect our planet’s future. Through WEA’s Indonesia Accelerators, Raihal gained the tools and networks to grow a movement of women advocating for climate resiliency. Now, as a Program Lead, she’s equipping 120 Indigenous women with the resources to protect forests, secure land rights, and strengthen sustainable livelihoods—creating a ripple effect that will reach 400,000 lives. ?? Join our Rising Tides, Rising Women campaign today to support leaders like Raihal who are protecting communities and ecosystems when it matters most. WEA is a global initiative that catalyzes women-led, grassroots solutions to protect our environment and communities.
关于我们
Women's Earth Alliance (WEA) invests in grassroots women's leadership to drive solutions to our most pressing ecological concerns – water, food, land, and climate. Our work is not charity. Instead, we link women who are already established as community leaders with the resources, trainings, funding, and partnerships they need to build self-reliant, environmentally sustainable, and healthy communities. WEA believes that when women thrive, communities, the environment, and future generations thrive.

This morning brings a sense of uncertainty, and for many of us, it feels heavy. The last 12 hours have left countless people grappling with questions, emotions, and a genuine concern for our safety, our rights, our families, neighbors, communities, and our future. If there’s one lesson we’ve learned from our journey at Women’s Earth Alliance and from the incredible women leaders we work alongside, it’s that resilience is not just a word—it’s an action, a choice, a rallying call. Now, more than ever, we need that same resilience in our communities and within ourselves. For those of us feeling afraid, disheartened, or uncertain about the road ahead: know that you are not alone. We see you, your struggle, your work, and your heart. And we are here. Read the full message from our Co-Executive Directors Melinda Kramer, Amira Jessica Diamond and Kahea Pacheco below.

Our world is facing a polycrisis, where climate change and conflict are deeply intertwined, intensifying systemic issues that disproportionately impact women. These intersecting crises often result in women facing heightened risks, including displacement, violence, loss of essential resources, and more. When conflict and environmental degradation converge, existing gender inequities deepen, placing additional and often life-threatening burdens on women. Compounding these crises is the persistent sidelining of women’s voices in crucial decision-making spaces. We cannot achieve peace, climate justice, or gender justice without addressing all of those needs in a meaningful way. Understanding how these crises amplify one another and uniquely impact women is key to creating effective, lasting solutions. Creating a world where gender justice, environmental health, and peace are intertwined is crucial. By recognizing these connections, we can support a more just and resilient future for all. #Polycrisis #GenderJustice #ClimateJustice #PeaceAndEarth #WomenLeadingChange

It’s a wrap for WEA Indonesia Grassroots Accelerator Collaboratory 2024! Over 5 days, we gathered 24 women environmental leaders from 18 provinces in Indonesia, working 6 impactful ecosystems for a journey of learning, connecting, sharing, and collaboration. From the mountains of Papua to the coasts of Sumatra, these women are the heartbeat of change in their communities, dedicated to protecting Mother Earth and building sustainable and equal futures for women and their communities. Together, we formed a circle of strength, and support, weaving a network of shared visions, knowledge, and hope. As we welcome them into our circle, the bond created here will continue to ripple across the nation, empowering local action and igniting lasting impact for generations to come. Women are Rising in Java, Indonesia! The WEA team has been on the ground in Indonesia with WEA Leaders. We started in Kebumen with our colleagues at SINERGI NATURAL. Together, we are supporting 50 women to form an agroforestry collective that focuses on the harvesting and processing of tamanu seeds for the valuable therapeutic oil used in high-end skincare products. We discussed the impacts of climate change in their villages and why women’s voices and representation is so critical in the decision-making that effects our communities and the environment. Today, through this powerful work supported by WEA’s partner KraveBeauty | Certified B Corp, these women are growing a collective business based on this once- overlooked resources. Next, we traveled to East Java to meet Lia Putrinda and her father, who have been leading holistic conservation efforts for over 18 years at Clungup Mangrove Conservation Tiga Warna Reservasi (CMC) CMC Tiga Warna. Since 2019, Womens Earth Alliance has partnered with CMC to create pathways for women in reforestation and eco-entrepreneurship. Besides partnering in extensive mangrove restoration, WEA/CMC programming has included the cultivation of a biodynamic Miyawaki forest with over 40 native species and 1400 original plants as well as the plantation of a native food forest. Future WEA programs with CMC will include the plantation of a new bamboo forest and an eco-entrepreneurship program to give women even more opportunities to build livelihoods while contributing to a thriving ecosystem. Ketika perempuan berdaya, bumi terjaga! (When Women Thrive, the Earth Thrives!).

"We don’t have a Planet B, that is why I will be protecting this one for life” - Constance Mwandaa, Head of Training & Ranger at Wildlife Works, Kenya, The Thin Green Line Foundation WEA was proud to have our Director of North America, Daniela Perez along with so many incredible leaders gather at the 1% for the Planet Global Summit last week in San Diego CA! It was inspiring to see how businesses from around the world turn their values into action through meaningful environmental impact in partnership with nonprofits. 1% for the Planet is a globally recognized certification that represents thousands of businesses and environmental partners. Businesses give 1% of their annual sales directly to vetted environmental partners, including Women’s Earth Alliance. ? At the summit, women highlighted the crucial role of minorities in the climate movement—advocating for equitable food systems, inclusion in aquaculture, and impactful actions that extend beyond land acknowledgments. Thank you to 1% for the Planet for being such an instrumental partner and supporter of WEA and to everyone that extended your knowledge and reminding us that there is hope when we come together ? Together, we’re charting a path toward real change. ???? Thank you to #WEALeaders #1PercentForThePlanet #ClimateAction #womenfortheplanet
