WEA is a global initiative that catalyzes women-led, grassroots solutions to protect our environment and communities.
关于我们
Women's Earth Alliance (WEA) invests in grassroots women's leadership to drive solutions to our most pressing ecological concerns – water, food, land, and climate. Our work is not charity. Instead, we link women who are already established as community leaders with the resources, trainings, funding, and partnerships they need to build self-reliant, environmentally sustainable, and healthy communities. WEA believes that when women thrive, communities, the environment, and future generations thrive.

More than a month after the devastating Southern California wildfires, the effects linger—not just in the land, but in the health and well-being of communities. The toxic aftermath of urban wildfires disproportionately impacts Black and Brown neighborhoods, where environmental injustices have already created higher risks of exposure to pollution and displacement. Instead of waiting for solutions, communities are leading them. Black Girls, Green Futures (BGGF)—a new WEA initiative in partnership with Environmental Charter Schools and Seeds of Carver Urban Farm—is equipping young leaders with tools to restore their neighborhoods. Through bioremediation—using plants to detoxify soil—and hands-on apprenticeship programs, these leaders are reclaiming public green spaces, protecting community health, and building resilience for the future. ?? "My parents spent their lives fighting and organizing for this. [Last month], we had our sacred Sáttítla—Medicine Lake Highlands—signed into a national monument designation of over 225,000 acres. Now, this—along with the removal of the four Klamath dams—marks a powerful moment for our lands and people." – Morning Star Gali (Ajumawi Band of the Pit River Tribe), Co-Director of Indigenous Justice, WEA Leader and U.S. Design Team Member For generations, Indigenous leaders, including Morning Star and her family, have been at the forefront of efforts to protect Sáttítla. Now, after years of community-led advocacy, the Sáttítla Highlands—home to Medicine Lake and a place of deep cultural and ecological significance—has been designated as a national monument. This designation safeguards over 200,000 acres of volcanic terrain, including vital obsidian sources, while ensuring continued stewardship of the land. This victory, alongside the historic removal of four Klamath dams, is a testament to the power of Indigenous leadership and community-driven efforts to protect and restore sacred places. Our hearts are full of gratitude and joy as we celebrate this hard-fought win and honor the generations who made it possible. ?? Sáttítla is protected, but the work continues. Indigenous women are leading efforts to uphold land and water stewardship, ensuring that future generations can continue their sacred relationship with these places. Their leadership is shaping a future where lands, waters, and our futures are safely stewarded for generations to come.
