Poway High students had an engaging October JMS session! ?? Frank Farmer, Ana Sical, and Denise Devine delivered an insightful presentation on BIM Coordination and the path to becoming a BIM coordinator. Students watched a video of an actual BIM coordination meeting, learned about key tasks and responsibilities, common challenges, and the software used in the BIM process ??. The highlight? A special treat of flying through the NavisWorks model on laptops! ?? A big thank you to Poway High School for welcoming JB Pacific and WCC JMS to share valuable knowledge about construction careers! ???

Poway High students had an incredible experience during our September JMS session! ?? JB Pacific's Drywall Division—David Garcia, Julio Adrian Carrillo Cruz, and @Anthony Quinonez —taught students how to drywall, tape, and mud the interior walls of a shed ???. Students learned valuable skills like scoring drywall, code requirements for screw installation, mixing mud with power tools, and the artistry of finishing seams. A big shoutout to Poway staff Joe Islas (Construction Teacher) and Jeremy Martin (Career Technical Educator) for their support! ?? #HandsOnLearning #ConstructionSkills #CareerEducation #JMSProgram

?? Kicking Off the Year at Castle Park High School! ??? Our fantastic chair, Denise Devine, started the school year strong with a presentation to the Castle Park High construction class! She introduced the Julia Morgan Society and shared exciting scholarship opportunities ????, while also highlighting different career paths in the construction industry. ??♂????? Denise kept the students engaged with a hands-on LEGO Serious Play workshop ????, teaching the importance of teamwork and communication. The class took on roles as owners, designers, and builders, learning how collaboration is key to successful projects! ???? We can't wait for future sessions with our awesome mentors and guest speakers! ????

?? JMS Presentation Recap at San Pasqual - 10/18 ?? Our amazing mentor Jennifer Gibb, VP of Business Development at VPCS, gave an inspiring talk at our October JMS Presentation! ?? She shared an insider’s view of school construction, introducing students to all the different teams, companies, and agencies that make these projects happen. ??? From funding ?? to job opportunities ??♀?, Jennifer covered the whole process! She broke down each stage: concept ?? design ?? funding ?? bidding tools ?? project delivery methods, and even touched on the challenges faced along the way. ???
