The Global Health Workforce: Where do we stand? The Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030 set the path toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC). A five-year check-in shows progress—a reduced workforce shortfall—but also growing inequalities, worsened by COVID-19. Key actions needed: -Protect health workers with fair pay & safe conditions -Invest in sustainable workforce growth -Act together for equity & resilience At Women in Global Health, we stress that gender equity is central—women drive health systems but remain undervalued. Racism is not just an individual act. It is structural, systemic, and deeply ingrained in healthcare. Women, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, face both racial and gender discrimination, from being mistaken for assistants to being denied promotions and excluded from decision-making. But we are not invisible. The voices of women in global health must be heard, valued, and centered.
