Violence against women health workers isn’t random—it’s a structural issue. With only 25% of leadership roles held by women, patriarchal attitudes undervalue and under-protect their contributions, leaving them vulnerable to harm. We call for transformative action: ?? Shift violent social norms through investment in education and programs. ?? Enforce gender-responsive laws with zero tolerance for violence. ?? Empower women in leadership to build safer, inclusive health systems. It’s time to ensure every woman health worker is safe, valued, and protected. #WomenUnderFire #NoExcuse #WomenInGH

Challenging Power and Privilege For Gender Equity in Health
关于我们
Women in Global Health (WGH) was founded in 2015 when four women in the health sector met on social media outraged that women are the majority in the sector but hold only a minority of global health leadership roles. Today, we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with 55 Chapters in 51 countries, and over 6,000 members. We are the largest and loudest women-led movement demanding gender equity in leadership, career opportunities, and pay; safe and decent working conditions; and gender equity in universal health coverage and health emergency preparedness and response. We build alliances and our own movement so women in global health will be heard. We are working towards a world that enables women from all regions to be leaders in global health and catalysts for better health for all.

Last week, Women in Global Health representatives demonstrated inspiring leadership at the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (#HSR2024) in Nagasaki, Japan, themed “Building Just and Sustainable Health Systems: Centering People and Protecting the Planet.” Some highlights from #HSR2024: ??A presentation from Women in Global Health Philippines, addressing the underrepresentation of women in leadership within the Philippine health sector despite their majority in the workforce. Their policy review emphasized the urgent need for systemic reforms to empower women leaders. ?? Women in Global Health - India contributed key findings on digital interventions for maternal and child health in Odisha, exploring solutions to improve service delivery and overcome systemic barriers in health systems. These women leaders are a testament to the strength and resilience of women in health, driving innovation, equity, and justice in global health systems. Their work reminds us that health systems cannot achieve sustainability or equity without women’s leadership at every level. ?? Let’s celebrate and amplify their voices as they continue to pave the way for change. #GlobalHealth #WomenInGH #HSR2024 #HealthEquity
