???? Yue LU from Pillar Legal, P.C. recently attended the Women Tech Meetup, an inspiring event featuring discussions from female founders about technology, AI, innovation, and product development. This November, the meetup focused on biotech, health data, anti-aging, and longevity. ?? According to Carta, women made up just 13.2% of all startup founders in 2023. This gap is even wider in some sectors. ?? As Lu Yue reflected on her work with startups, she noted that only one out of ten—sometimes none—of the companies she’s worked with have women founders. ?? Despite underrepresentation in leadership, by some metrics, women often outperform in industries like education, healthcare, biotech and consumer products. ?? Women in leadership also drive successful outcomes. According to research conducted by McKinsey & Company in 2019, overall, companies with more than 30% women executives were more likely to outperform those with fewer women executives, or none at all. ?? Thank you to Dasha Shunina for organizing these meetups in San Francisco, New York City and Miami. They provide a space for women entrepreneurs to connect, share ideas and support one another. ???? If you’re navigating legal questions or challenges as a founder, feel free to connect with Yue LU at the next Women Tech Meetup. #WomenTechMeetup #SanFrancisco #Legal #WomenFounders #StartupCommunity

Supporting Women Founders: Courage and Encouragement ????Attending the Women Tech Meetup always leaves me feeling motivated. The events are often packed, with people standing wherever they can to listen as female founders share their experiences in technology, AI, innovation and product development. This November, we discussed biotech, health data, anti-aging and longevity. ??According to Carta, women made up just 13.2% of all startup founders in 2023. This gender gap is even wider in some sectors than others. ??As a female lawyer who works closely with startups almost every day, I can’t help but reflect: how many of the startups I’ve worked with have had women founders? Probably one out of ten? ??In fact, some statistical research suggests women often outperform in sectors like education, healthcare, biotech and consumer products. Sometimes, what we need is just a little courage from within and a little encouragement from others. ?? Further, according to research conducted by McKinsey & Company in 2019, overall, companies with more than 30% women executives were more likely to outperform those with fewer women executives, or none at all. In other words, women in leadership positions drive successful outcomes. ??Thank you to Dasha Shunina for organizing these amazing monthly meetups in San Francisco, New York City and Miami. These events provide that encouragement, creating a community where women entrepreneurs can find each other and grow together. ????If you have legal questions or challenges in your entrepreneurial journey, feel free to connect with me at the next Women Tech Meetup. #WomenTechMeetup#SanFrancisco#Legal#WomenFounders #StartupCommunity

This is a somewhat unexpected angle for the first photo, but this is what you get if you arrive late to Dasha Shunina events—it was packed! Four amazing founders from vastly different parts of health tech (gene medicine, endocannabinoid supplements, wearable and fashionable EEG, health education app) discussed their products, challenges, and approaches. Discussions revolved around the reasons why it is hard to make lifestyle changes, what it takes to make medical products accessible, representation challenges in drug development and medical research, the importance of a community, and things that specifically affect women's health span. My favorite quotes from the event: "Muscle is the currency of life" - Bobbie Kumar, MD MBA FAAFP, MD MBA FAAFP on age-related muscle loss. "Concept of vitamin people" - Alejandra Guillén on interactions that provide you with much-needed energy. It starts to feel less lonely to be a female interested in longevity! Thanks to Dasha and her Women Tech Meetup??

Had such a great time at Women Tech Meetup in SF. Thanks Dasha Shunina for organizing it! Women meetups are definitely something special, warm and relaxing. The topic Longevity & Aging is super interesting and brought up a lot of related and acute questions about women's health in general. I had a pleasure to meet one of the panelists Bobbie Kumar, MD MBA FAAFP, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at HelloFam, a cool app where the longevity experts guide you through several weeks to improve your health. I've just onboarded and now waiting for my personalized plan!
