Hello WTD community! We’re going to be spending less time on social media. You can read more about why here: https://lnkd.in/gGAai9dv As we're entering a period of transition, we've thought about where we'd like to spend our energy. And, while social media is a wonderful place to share and connect, we've decided to spend more time on our community space and Present Yourself and less time on here. For now, our feed will be much quieter. We'll continue to share announcements from our community (be sure to tag @womentalkdesign!) and a few updates from time to time. But, if you'd like to stay up to date with what's happening with Women Talk Design, subscribe to our monthly newsletter. See you there ??

Help us bring this event to #SXSW2025! ??
It's time to ?? VOTE for #SXSW PanelPicker proposals! Help us bring Lightning Talks by Women Talk Design to #SXSW2025! We ran this session at SXSW 2024 and it was a hit. 3 speakers and 60 attendees, almost all of whom stayed the entire hour and offered our speakers support and feedback. Which, at an event like SXSW where there are so many exciting things going on, is a huge win. (Plus: audience connections, lots of great questions, and several folks who stuck around afterward to talk to the speakers!) I'm excited about this session for a few reasons: - Conferences like SXSW can be intimidating to speak at and Lightning Talks offers an opportunity for speakers to give a talk as "practice" while inviting the audience to think about themselves on stage too - Speakers are all women and local to Austin. It's expensive to travel to Austin during SXSW and I always want to see more locals speaking at SX - It's inspiring and fun! Here are the speakers & talks we have lined up for 2025: - Ana V Peralta, CSPO on how to use your skills as a UX designer to boost small business resilience - Lyric Metroplos on how foresight methods can drive change and address complex systemic issues through design - Leanne Kawahigashi on strategies for balancing a player/coach mindset while evolving as a designer, driving growth, and maximizing impact as a company scales Use the link in the comments to vote for this session and help us bring Lightning Talks to SXSW 2025. And if you have a PanelPicker session up for voting, feel free to drop it in the comments so other people can see it and vote for it too! A special shout out to Melody Ethley, Elise Entzenberger, and Mirandy Kim who spoke at our 2024 session and inspired me to propose it again! (And to all of our Women Talk Design Lightning Talks past speakers and attendees—we've run a version of this event dozens and dozens of times since 2017 in multiple cities and online and it's always so energizing!) Thanks for your support ?? PS. I was running short on time and used the proposal video from 2024. Woops! Same format, different year (and new topics!)

?? Design Queen ? US Top 100 Businesses ? NAWBO Chicago Young Entrepreneur of the Year ? Speaker & Bestselling Author. Transform websites into a tool for business growth for women-led brands ? WBENC Certified
"My web project failed." I've been hearing this phrase far too often lately. As I've been sharing insights from my book, "Made to Sell: Creating Websites that Convert," across various business accelerator programs and communities, I've uncovered a pattern of struggles in web design and development projects. Common reasons for failure include: - Lack of knowledge about web platforms - Difficulty in vetting the right web designer/developer - Absence of clear goals and strategies for the website Sound familiar? You're not alone. This is why Peter Krzyzek and I submitted our SXSW proposal a couple of weeks ago to address these challenges. As a first-timer doing the SXSW Panelpicker, I'm so excited to share that we made it to the voting round, and I need your support! ?? "Founders Web Circle: From Web Projects Disaster to Triumph" ?? This dynamic meetup aims to not only tackle the common issues of website project failures but we'll also dive into: Interactive discussions on avoiding common pitfalls Expert-led sessions on strategic planning Real-world case studies and actionable insights Whether you're a founder, marketer, web professional, or tech innovator, this meetup is designed to help turn web project disasters into triumphs. ??? Your vote can make this happen! Here's how to support in 3 easy steps: 1. Click on the link in the comment 2. Sign In or create an account (it's easy to create one) 3. Click the "vote up" button for "Founders Web Circle: From Web Projects Disaster to Triumph" Every vote counts and voting closes on Sunday, August 18th! Let's bring this valuable discussion to SXSW 2025 and help more people succeed in their web projects. Repost to share this with fellow founders, marketers, web professionals, or tech innovators in your circle. Thank you for your support! ?? ?? ? I've spotted several #SXSW2025 presentations I'm interested in voting for! Check them out~ >Lightning Talks by Women Talk Design : by Danielle Barnes Lyric Metroplos Leanne Kawahigashi Ana V Peralta, CSPO - supporting women to share short-burst talks about their experiences and ideas in Design ? ?? >Regenerative Futures: 16 Magic Questions to Ask Your Leaders by Frank W. Spencer IV - looking to Regenerative Learning & Education ?? ?? ?? >NASA's Surprising Story of Fabric and Sewing in Space - by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Stacey Menard Amy Kleypas - Hand craft's role in the innovative world of space travel-- fascinating! ???? ?? ?? >Design is Trans by Joey Zeledón - The impact of Design to embrace authenticity, empathy and acceptance ?? ?? I love that SXSW is a place for big thinkers and dreamers to come together and share ideas. Last time I spoke at SXSW it was such a phenomenal experience hosting conversation across industries and cultural spaces. This year I've submitted a super-fun presentation about Insights and Innovation around PLAY with Tasja Kirkwood from Mattel, Inc. here https://lnkd.in/gcDxzEj5 and can't wait to be inspired by some of these other speakers and forward-thinking topics. I'm curious what other talks you're excited about! Browsable Panel-Picker here: https://lnkd.in/gDeKsazR
