What you need to know about the EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT (ERA): ??? Women have been fighting for equal rights through the ERA for 100 years ??? 85% of Americans support the ERA, and the ERA has enough state ratifications, but still isn’t recognized as the 28th amendment ?? The ERA would ensure a stronger legal basis for women’s rights in employment, education, healthcare, and more. WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: ?? The gender pay gap? Still here (and widening since 2023). ♀ Discrimination in education and workplaces? Ongoing. ??Reproductive rights? At risk. Take action by advocating for federal recognition of the ERA. This statistic reflects a heartbreaking reality in our islands. But there are organizations working tirelessly to bring hope, healing, and empowerment to those in need. One of our grantees, He Ho‘omaka Hou Ana O Puna, supports survivors of domestic violence, substance use disorders, homelessness, and trauma on Hawai‘i Island. Through their support group, they provide mentorship, travel assistance, and food, helping women rebuild their lives while addressing homelessness and reducing recidivism in our community.
