Women of Egypt Initiative promotes women empowerment and gender equality
关于我们
Women of Egypt Network (WoEgypt) is an advocacy movement whose main mission is to empower Egyptian women by bringing into focus important issues hindering their growth, and by effecting positive change. The initiative was founded in 2016 and is reaching followers around the world, the vast majority being in Egypt. WOE believes that the road to empowerment begins with the development and strengthening of the individual’s core values and self-worth. This principle has been the guiding light of WOE since its inception and it has been incorporated into all its activities, including the publication and management of its FB page and Magazine. WOE has featured thousands of Egyptian women who have distinguished themselves as workers, professionals, artists, gymnasts and athletes, academics, entrepreneurs, and ordinary people who are breaking through gender barriers and societal taboos. This media exposure not only has highlighted the activities of these women; it has acted as a connectivity and networking tool for educational and business opportunities open to all who follow WOE on a daily basis. Moreover, WOE have become a credible and respected source of information and news about Egyptian women sought by printed and electronic media, international organizations and NGOs in Egypt and beyond. WOE was also created to change the image of how the west perceives Egyptian women and to revive the memory of the amazing women of the Egyptian suffragette movement. Egyptian women of all ages are invited to share their stories, to inspire others who are reading them.

Sara El Gabery Launches “Yalla Success” to Empower Girls in Egypt and the Arab World Despite her young age, 17-year-old Sara El Gabery has ambitions far beyond her years. Her journey began during the COVID-19 lockdown when she moved with her family to their village, Al-Shuwaiq Al-Sharqi. There, she saw how many girls faced pressure to leave school or marry early. Even those who continued their education often didn’t know much about their own potential or abilities. Sara studies at the International Department of the American International School. At just 14, she joined a coding and website development training program by Vodafone, where she learned the basics of programming, website development, and coding. This sparked her passion for technology and inspired her to share her experience and empower other girls. That experience made her realize the importance of empowering girls, which led her to launch “Yalla Success” in June 2024. “Yalla Success” is a platform aimed at empowering girls in Egypt and the Arab region through competitions, training programs, and workshops. These workshops cover topics like programming, personal development, leadership, and entrepreneurship. The initiative has already delivered over 45 workshops and helped more than 100 girls graduate from hands-on training programs. Girls from over six countries have participated through in-person and online sessions. For her achievements, Sara won second place in the “Girl and Technology” award and was honored by Dr. Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, during a special event celebrating women’s achievements in technology. Additionally, “Yalla Success” was selected for incubation at Nile University under the sponsorship of USAID. Sara was also accepted into the prestigious Yale Young Global Scholars program, becoming the first Egyptian girl to qualify through the high school system. The program is highly competitive, typically selecting students from STEM fields, but Sara’s exceptional skills secured her a spot. The program focuses on critical thinking, leadership, and global issues, giving participants the chance to study alongside students from around the world at Yale University. Despite her young age, Sara has faced many challenges but never gave up. Today, she dreams of making “Yalla Success” the leading platform for empowering Arab girls. You can follow Sara’s journey and learn more about “Yalla Success” through her social media pages: Yalla Success Sarah El Gabery
