Tomorrow, George Halow, professor of Aerospace Engineering from UM will kick off the Final Presentations with a discussion on the experiences of women in STEM at college and the activities they can get involved with. Judges are looking forward to our team’s presentations and cannot wait to see what flight solutions they have come up with this year - from drones to spaceships! ?? ?? Good luck MGFFC teams!

?? Exciting news from our Kickoff Event for the?third annual Michigan Girls Future Flight Challenge! ?? This year, we’re thrilled to have?22 dynamic teams?ready to tackle world challenges with innovative flight solutions! Today's Kickoff Event included an overview of the project and challenge statements, Keynote speaker Abby Lilly from Lockheed Martin, and two mentor speakers from Barron Industries. We were very impressed by all the girls participating who engaged with brilliant questions about our speaker's work in aerospace and their projects. Students will have an opportunity to meet with women who work in aerospace across Michigan, learn about their role in the industry, and discuss their project. ?? Calling All Women in Aerospace! ?? Here at the Women of AIAM (WAIAM), we believe in the power of mentorship and its impact on young girls' futures. The Third Annual Michigan Girls Future Flight Challenge (MGFFC) is right around the corner, and we need YOU to help inspire and guide the next generation of female aerospace leaders. Event Details: ?? Kickoff Event: October 12th ?? Final Presentations: November 9th The MGFFC is a virtual, state-wide aerospace competition for girls in 4th-8th grade. Over 170 girls from all over Michigan participated over the last two years, working on projects that involve critical thinking in engineering, marketing & design, and business planning & sales. This year, we're partnering with educators through MiSTEM and Girl Scouts Michigan Shore to Shore to align our curriculum with the Business Jumpstart badges. Why Mentor? As a mentor, you have the unique opportunity to: ?? Inspire girls to pursue STEM and aerospace careers ?? Share your journey and experiences in the industry ?? Provide guidance and feedback on their projects ?? Encourage them to DREAM BIG Your Commitment: A minimum of 2-6 hours between October 12th and November 9th, including: 1. A Mentor info session 2. Attendance at the Kickoff event (optional but encouraged) 3. Participation during final presentations (optional) 4. Working with your assigned group(s) based on your schedule This is a chance to make a meaningful impact and help shape the future of aerospace.
