Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of women everywhere—especially the incredible women who make up the Women in Medicine? community. From our humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a powerful force for change—uniting women to create a healthcare system that empowers everyone. We envision a world where every woman in medicine is empowered to thrive, and we are proud to stand side by side with our community as we work toward that future. There’s still work to do, but today, we reflect on how far we’ve come. Thank you for your continued efforts to bridge the gap for women physicians and advocate for our patients. Together we must #LiftasWeRise and be #WIMStrongerTogether

Dr. Shikha Jain, MD, FACP, Founder and Chair of the Board of Women in Medicine?, alongside our Executive Director Morgan Collier, had the honor of attending The Carol Emmott Foundation Christine Malcolm Symposium at the end of February. The Carol Emmott Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to achieving fully inclusive #genderequity in healthcare #leadership and governance. Their presenters shared personal stories - sometimes raw, but always inspiring - with the attendees and exemplified the #sisterhood that comes with being a Carol Emmott Fellow. Our mission is clear: to accelerate gender equity and diversity in healthcare leadership. Together, we’re working towards a more equitable and inclusive healthcare system by fostering connections between powerful women, allies, and organizations. Let’s make the future new, together. ??: Anne McCune Amisha Wallia #HealthcareLeadership #WomenInMedicine #DiversityInHealthcare #CarolEmmottFoundation #WomenEmpowerment #OptimismInAction

Empowering #WomeninMedicine requires both mentorship and sponsorship, as well as knowing difference between them. #Mentorship helps guide, while #Sponsorship actively opens doors and advocates for career advancement. In a time when DEI initiatives are under attack, ensuring equitable opportunities for diverse voices is more critical than ever. In the Pulmonology Advisor article entitled “Women in Medicine: Sponsorship Is Vital for Addressing Historic Inequalities” by Jayne Jacova Feld, MA, our Founder and Chair of the Board, Dr. Shikha Jain, shared her insights in a powerful interview about how sponsorship can break barriers and transform careers in the medical field. Check out the full article to dive deeper into how we can all play a role in addressing these inequalities. #WomenInMedicine #WIMStrongerTogether

We are so proud of our board member Dr. Bayo C. for using her personal experience and her medical expertise to highlight this incredibly important issue. We will not see these outcomes change until we acknowledge there is a problem, and then create real strategic solutions to move the needle. In order to do that, we need data, we need research, we need initiatives and interventions, and we need advocates to speak out. Thank you for all that you do! #WIMStrongerTogether
