Sharing this very insightful recap from a recent #womeninengineering panel discussion. “…she worked with three young women who experienced repeated microaggressions from their male colleagues. “There were questions like, ‘Does she really have the experience for this job?’ or ‘Has she really been in the field?’ And they were asked often enough that these three women didn’t speak up at staff meetings that were held in an open, male-dominated bullpen,”…” All of the panelists agree that diversity efforts have improved workplace environments for female engineers, but there is still a lot of work to be done. We would love to hear from you. What micro-aggressions have you witnessed working in the #manufacturing industry? And how have you dealt with them? #diversity #womeninmanufacturing

Today was a testament of the amazing community and power of connection of Women in Manufacturing as several chapter leaders of Women in Manufacturing North Carolina, Women in Manufacturing South Carolina and Women in Manufacturing Georgia came together to support a few SC #WiM leaders. Mary Ellen Grom of AFL who also serves on the board of the Women in Manufacturing Education Foundation, Michele Thompson, MBA, CPCM, PMC of SafeRack who serves as the sponsorship director for the SC chapter, and Mary Kimani of Trane Technologies who serves as Trane’s #WiM representative - all were recognized as Mavens of Manufacturing by the SCBIZ! Congratulations ladies! Thank you Lynn Kier and Nadine Vaughan for supporting our neighboring chapter!
