Zambia has committed to the 90.70.90 cervical cancer elimination goals. 90% of girls to be vaccinated, 70 tested with high precision methods, 90 of those needing treatment to be able to access it. Zambia has in the recent past scaled up efforts to reduce the burden of cervical cancer. Where are we as a country in this endeavour? What are the most pressing issues in the fight against cervical cancer in Zambia and how is this linked to the overall gender equality goal? You are invited to our webinar on Zoom to explore the challenges and opportunities for improving women's health in Zambia. When: Jan 29, 2025 05:00 PM Johannesburg Register in advance for this meeting: https://lnkd.in/dZ-mUfp7 After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Policy Influence Through Dialogue and Collaboration Women in Global Health Zambia's Advocacy Coordinator, Ms. Namakau Mundia, represented us at the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Technical Workshop held in Lusaka, Zambia over the last few days. This critical event aimed to draft, harmonize and finalize Zambia's National Programme of Action (NPOA), aligning with the country's National Development Plan. Why is this important to our work? 1. Promoting Gender Equity: APRM reviews often include assessments of gender equality and women's empowerment, resonating with our advocacy for health equity and gender-sensitive policies. 2. Health Governance: Effective health governance is crucial for inclusive, accountable and responsive health systems. 3. Community Involvement: The APRM's participatory approach enables movements like ours to influence national policies on health and gender. 4. Accountability and Advocacy: The APRM provides a platform to advocate for better implementation of national and regional commitments to health equity. By engaging in this process, we're ensuring that women's voices are heard and their needs are prioritized in Zambia's development framework. We're proud to contribute to shaping Zambia's future through collaborative policy-making and review! #WGHZambia #APRM #SDGs #HealthEquity #GenderEquality #Governance #Advocacy

On December 4, 2024, we held a dissemination event in Lusaka to share findings from the study "Estimating the Prevalence of Workplace Violence and Harassment, and Understanding and Addressing Perceptions of Safety Among Frontline Healthcare Workers in Zambia: A Cross-Sectional Survey." This article highlights key discussions in co-creating human-centered solutions to address workplace violence in the health and care settings, drawing from stakeholder submissions during the dissemination event as well as lessons from our recently concluded study.
