During March, I love celebrating the history of women serving in the military, especially those who have paved the way for the rest of us. Many of you may know about the history of Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs). Their service to the United States proved that women could fly combat aircraft when their nation needed them most. From 1943 to 1944, over 1,000 women flew over 60 million miles as part of the WASP, ferrying aircraft and personnel, towing targets, and performing other transport duties. The WASP flew every military aircraft, including Boeing B-17 and B-29 bombers. Their training occurred at Avenger Field in Sweetwater, TX, and there is an annual reunion to remember their service. The picture, below, is from the reunion in 2022. #armyaircorps #WASPS #womeninaviation #militaryservice #usairforce

I may or may not be enjoying a tasty mug of Christmas Kitty (Aerial Resupply Coffee?) with a splash of JP-8 (JP-4 for you old timers) or a mixture of Rocket Fuel as I type this. As the holiday season is upon us, I find myself reflecting on the deeper meaning of this time of year. Beyond the Holiday lights, the festive gatherings, and the cherished traditions lies an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others—a chance to embody the spirit of giving. Giving is more than a single act; it’s a mindset, a ripple effect that spreads kindness and hope to places we may never see. Whether it’s sharing time, resources, or even a simple smile, the act of giving connects us all, reminding us of our shared humanity. This year, I’ve been inspired by so many acts of generosity within my community and professional circles. From colleagues volunteering their time to support local non-profits to friends and family coming together to provide for those in need, these moments reflect the true essence of the season. (Scott Fike thinking of you and the support you provided friends and neighbors in the Carolinas.) In the world of logistics and innovation, where I often focus my energy, the spirit of giving takes on a unique form. It’s about delivering not just military stuff but solutions and opportunities to those who need them most. Whether it’s ensuring supplies reach remote areas affected by disasters, supporting our men and women deployed, to advancing technologies, or simply helping someone find a clearer path forward, our collective efforts have the power to change lives. The beauty of giving lies in its simplicity. It doesn’t always require grand gestures; often, it’s the small, thoughtful acts that leave the biggest impression—a handwritten note, a listening ear, or a willingness to lend a helping hand and share some knowledge. This holiday season, I challenge myself—and invite you—to think bigger, to give with intention, and to foster connections that transcend the season itself. Carry this spirit of giving into the new year, making it not just a seasonal tradition but a habit. To everyone reading this, thank you for the light you bring to the world in your unique way whether through your profession, your community efforts, or the love you share with family and friends, your giving matters. May your holiday season be filled with joy, warmth, and the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve made a difference. Now in the spirit of giving ... and trying to get more people to understand and appreciate the #Logistics profession ... I am giving you the ultimate Logistics gift. Since 1982, the Logistics Officer Association has been producing the Exceptional Release professional journal. It is one of many treasure troves of knowledge ... I invite you to check out the latest edition and look thru the library of past editions ... you might be surprised what you find. Link: https://lnkd.in/eJesm539 AF-A4L - #Happy #Holidays
