Last week, we had a great TechTalk from Auto-Owners Insurance. Thank you so much to Erin McLaughlin, Samantha Woods, and WIC alumna Courtney T. for coming to speak with us and give insight into web development and the transition from a student at MSU to fulltime at Auto Owners.

This win is a testament to the innovation, dedication, and resilience that drive our team forward every day. BRCē is on its way to becoming the best in sports-tech, built from the ground up by women and allies. No special treatment. No shortcuts. Just relentless hard work and results. Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to hear from Ford Motor Company. We had a great time learning about the importance of IAM solutions with a focus on user experience. Thank you to Ritu Ahluwalia for coming to speak with us and for giving us a great demonstration on how the design and feedback process can go!

Congratulations to all of our members who completed their senior capstone projects over the course of the previous semester. It was amazing to see all of their hard work pay off with some truly amazing end results. Congrats to Sanaye Lewis, Morghane McAnelly, Alexandra Tarasova (Sasha), Sania Sinha, Navya Singh, Rida Mahmood, and Roshni Kaur. Additionally, a big congrats to Morghane McAnelly and her team for receiving the Auto-Owners Insurance Exposition Award, and to Sanaye Lewis and her team for winning the MSU Federal Credit Union Praxis Award. And one final congrats to Morghane McAnelly for graduating! Good luck on all of your future endeavors; we are all so excited to watch you succeed.

Thank you to Jasmine Hines for taking the time to speak with us about the culture at Rocket Companies and the opportunities available for growth as an employee or intern. It was great to hear what it’s like to work at Rocket! Shoutout to our very own WIC member, Sania Sinha, for sharing her firsthand experiences as an intern there. Thank you both for making this such an engaging and insightful session!

Last week, we had the opportunity have Ryan Kutcher and Abby M. from General Motors come and speak with us about Electric Vehicles and how they are evolving. Thank you so much to Ryan and Abby for coming in and giving such an engaging presentation to our members and showing off all of the cool things to experience at GM!

Last month was conference season for our WICsters! Members were sent to Philadelphia, PA for the AnitaB.org Grace Hopper Celebration and to Chicago, IL for the Society of Women Engineers WE24 conference. Additionally, many were also able to attend the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWT) MICWIC conference that took place right on campus here at Michigan State University. During these conferences, our members were able to attend a variety of sessions including presentations and workshops along with being able to network with companies and fellow technologists. These conferences allowed us to expand our knowledge in the world of technology and to connect with many other women who are pursuing careers in computing and engineering. Last week, we had speakers Lisa Tipton and Dennis (Chip) Herrick come to Michigan State from Bosch to give us a demo on their Bosch Metaverse Experience. It was a great opportunity for us to see the future of the workplace through the Meta Quest goggles and to hear more about work at Bosch!

Sanaye Lewis and other Spartan Engineers represented the College of Engineering at the 2024 MSU Homecoming parade. They exemplify the high caliber of students in our college. Congratulations on a wonderful parade, and Go Green!

Recently, we had a great opportunity to talk and ask questions with members of Bank of America relating to career advice and tips for transitioning into the workplace.
