Today we held our annual networking event, AlumniConnect! WiC Members had the chance to network with a few of our alumni over Zoom to ask questions about imposter syndrome, technical interviews, typical workdays, and any other questions they had. A huge thank you to Imris Curry, Isabella Totino, and Amrithaa Venkataramana for being our panelists this year and leading such great discussions, as well as our PR Committee led by Alyssa Sfravara and Peyton Wagner for making this event possible!

Last week, several of our active members had the opportunity to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration hosted by AnitaB.org in Philadelphia! This was an exciting experience for our members, who attended many engaging talks and got to connect with companies at the career fair. Our members were able to connect with this year’s theme Me + We, as they learned a lot about community and inclusion within the tech industry. Thank you to the many departments at RIT that sponsored our members' attendance, and thank you to the RIT Diversity Initiative Office for organizing this trip! We are so grateful for your support!

On September 21st, our Outreach committee hosted a Girl Scout Tech Badge Day where we had Girl Scout troops from across the Rochester area come to RIT to earn their technology badge! This event introduced the Girl Scouts to basic technological skills through fun activities. We had a great time hosting this event, and it would not have been possible without our outreach committee heads, Kelsey Tirado and Melanie Couillard, our instructors, Katherine Collier, Jaime Campanelli, and Ashley Alt, and all our wonderful volunteers. Thank you!

We've had a very busy and exciting week as our members prepared for the Rochester Institute of Technology fall career fair! We started the week off with resume reviews from Wegmans Food Markets representatives! Our members also had the opportunity to learn about opening job roles and connect with their representatives one-on-one. Tuesday morning, Fast Enterprises, LLC brought coffee and donuts to our space so our members could talk to representatives and learn more about the company. That evening, several of our members tabled at Affinity Reception! They had the opportunity to meet with recruiters a day before the career fair and showcase what our organization is all about. DICK'S Sporting Goods held a Destress event at our general meeting on Wednesday with tons of snacks, nail polish, coloring books, and games to play. It was the perfect way to relax after the career fair! We rounded out the week with our first movie night of the semester, "The Devil Wears Prada." Thank you to all of the companies that visited our space this week and held such fun and informative events!
