Women Giving Back supports women and children in crisis on a first step to stability by providing quality clothing at no cost, assisted by a caring and committed community.
Founded in 2007 by a core group of building industry sales and marketing professionals, the goal initially was to supplement the great work HomeAid Northern Virginia does in renovating shelters by helping transitionally homeless women and children get on their feet with clothes to help them enter the workplace and fit in at school.
Since 2015, Women Giving Back has been a standalone 501(c)3 and continues to expand its outreach in the Greater DC Metro area. We have grown from working from the back of a small retail operation to now where we have over 14,000 square feet of warehouse, boutique, and available office space.
We proudly watch as our clients persevere, thrive, increase their self-confidence and enable themselves to improve their lives and achieve independence. This increased self-esteem leads to an obvious resilience, poise, and pep in their steps. We build confidence and self-esteem by providing quality clothing, school supplies, food, toiletries, and other essentials paired with supportive services to foster their return to self-sufficiency. Our vision is to be the most impactful provider of free clothing and emergency support services to women and children in the region who are homeless, living in local shelters, transitional housing facilities, or safe houses, or living at or below the poverty line – including those coming out of incarceration, fleeing domestic violence, and immigrants and refugees adjusting to life in our region.
Our Community Distribution Partner (CDP) Program is soaring to new heights! ✈️
We delivered 50 boxes of clothing to Compassion Airlift, a nonprofit based in Manassas, VA providing free air transport for patients in financial need who require specialized medical services outside their local area. This CDP delivery will specifically help those affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.
A special note of appreciation to our Development Committee Co-Chair David Baer for facilitating this new partnership, allowing us to extend our resources toward crisis relief efforts.
Women Giving Back is issuing a Request for Proposal for "Staff Salary and Benefits Review and Recommendations". We invite all capable applicants interested in supporting our team to submit proposals by February 28, 2025. Project and submission details within.

Our Community Distribution Partner (CDP) program, an established resource for providing clothing to aid centers across the nation, has expanded to delivering Snack Packs! The team at Marumsco Hills Elementary School in Woodbridge, VA extends their sincerest appreciation to our supporters for making supplies readily available for their families in need.
A special THANK YOU to the The Peterson Companies Family Foundation and The Westlake Foundation for their generous support of our Snack Pack program!

Thank you to all who joined us in January, especially on our MLK Day of Service. This annual tradition of honoring one of our nation's most pivotal civic leaders through public service shows how deeply our volunteers embody Dr. King's legacy of compassion and kindness. May we all continue working together to fulfill The Dream of unity and equity for all 🤝
