Women Forward International is honored to welcome our new Global Program Manager, Dr. Dresda Mendez de la Brena! Dresda Méndez is a passionate project management expert with over a decade of hands-on experience in strategic planning and nurturing relationships at local, state, and national levels. She is dedicated to empowering women and girls through philanthropy, focusing on economic independence, leadership, and education. As a consultant, she enjoys helping small to medium-sized non-profits develop strategies that promote gender equity and inclusion. Dr. Mendez holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Granada and a Master’s degree in Gender and Women’s Studies from Utrecht University. She also completed her postdoctoral work at Concordia University in Montreal. An accomplished author, she has written several books and articles on feminist methodologies, capitalism, embodiment, and women’s chronic pain. She has a knack for translating research into practical solutions, always striving to create meaningful change in the world. #transformingculture #unity #collaboration #service 1 week ago: "I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve joined the incredible team at Women Forward International as a Global Project Manager! In this role, I’ll be collaborating with a fantastic group of college students who are passionate about spreading abundance and love both in Mexico and around the world. Specifically, I’ll be overseeing our Alas de Amor program in Mexico. This initiative is dedicated to rescuing surplus fresh food and distributing it to families in need, with a focus on supporting women and girls. While traditional food rescue programs, like food banks, are valuable, they often fall short of creating lasting change in vulnerable communities. OUR MISSION Women Forward International is a global platform for systemic change in international affairs education, reorienting research towards the principles of unity, collaboration, and service. We create unique partnerships that lead to behavioral changes that advance women to advance humanity. WFI partners with a range of private sector, academic and non-profit clients to identify research critical to human progress, and then pairs teams of graduate international studies students with these organizations to complete that research and implement solutions. WFI also uses the reflective power of Art to reveal and investigate the underlying cultural issues at stake in a given international relations issue and provide the next generation of leaders a more holistic approach to human relationships. WHY AND HOW WE CHOOSE OUR PARTNERS How does Women Forward International select its artist and university partners? We look for artists who dare to do things outside the boundaries of social norms – in order to break free of outmoded and limited mindsets. Our university partners each have faculty dedicated to serving humanity through research. When we bring together service-oriented educators with bold moves of artistic freedom we find that we inspire change – changes in consciousness which lead to changes in behavior and society. As art is relevant to every international relations issue and its forms such as film, music, poetry, and dance hold the power to awaken the heart towards empathy for one’s fellow being, the next generation of leaders is exposed to new templates for human relations and encouraged to act on them.
