?? Behind the Wheel: Meet Jenny Shan For the past two weeks, our Deployment Project Manager Jenny Shan has been on the ground near Detroit, leading the launch of one of our most complex projects to date. She’s been coordinating the deployment team, ensuring 24/7 support for the customer, and making sure the robots are running seamlessly. ?? But Jenny’s journey into robotics is just as fascinating as the work she does. ?? From Teaching to Engineering Starting as a mathematics teacher, Jenny’s passion for problem-solving led her to engineering. After earning a degree from Columbia University, she moved to #Detroit and joined wheel.me to shape the future of automation. ?? Orchestrating Deployment Success As Deployment Project Manager, Jenny plays a key role in bringing automation projects to life. She coordinates deployment projects both big and small across the ???? U.S., ensuring that every implementation runs smoothly from start to finish. Her work includes: ? Managing deployment teams to ensure efficient installations. ? Collaborating with customers to prepare everything needed for a successful launch—from technical setup and IT integrations to operational readiness. ? Troubleshooting and optimizing solutions in real time to make sure our ?? robots seamlessly integrate into dynamic environments. ? Ensuring 24/7 support during critical phases to give customers confidence in their new automation setup. ?? From Concept to Execution ?? "One of the most exciting aspects of a deployment is collaborating with the customer's innovation team and engineers to bring automation to their facility. This involves understanding their current processes, what cycle time requirements we may need to satisfy, and any opportunities to improve the workflow. It is always satisfying to see the final results—our robots working autonomously in dynamic environments, helping bring smoother operations to our customer's facility." ?? ?? ??? From a classroom to a robotics lab and now to leading large-scale deployments, Jenny’s story is a testament to adaptability, passion, and the power of continuous learning. ?? Stay tuned for more inspiring stories in our Behind the Wheel series! ?? #behindthewheel #wheelme #robotics #womenintech #womeninleadership #automation #career
Women Driven Mobility

The stories of women reinventing the way the world moves. A movement to diversify perspectives in transportation.
关于我们
The mobility industry was born of the union between the automotive and the technology sectors, revolutionizing the way the world moves people and goods into the 21st century. Both the technology and automotive industries are prominent spaces for their legacies of “boys clubs” as both male leadership and staffing continue to dominate their respective sectors and adjacent industries. Despite the patriarchal pedigree and changing expectations in professional and personal capacities—the mobility industry is seeing a growing movement in female leadership. Women are integrated throughout the mobility industry at large, designing and engineering some of the most innovative technologies and platforms that are driving the future of how goods and people move—and the spaces, communities and roads they move along. While these women spend their careers doing this work, most of these stories are still untold. Until now. Women Driven Mobility is a book, a collective, a movement. Meet Mary Arraf - the featured rockstar in this week's MichComms Report newsletter. I first heard Mary speak on an International Women's Day panel at an Impact100 Oakland County event (she was phenomenal!), and then we met when she participated in a PRSA Detroit event we hosted at Franco's office last year. I loved listening to and learning from her during those events, and I knew she would be a great fit to feature in my newsletter. Mary is a seasoned communications professional with over 20 years of experience spanning automotive, financial?and nonprofit sectors. She's currently the Head of Communications for Automotive & Continental North America at Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., where she manages media relations, marketing, executive and internal communications?and social media across North America. Mary's piece of advice for other marketing/comms pros: "Know your values and your boundaries. We are currently living in very interesting times. It is important to be clear about what you stand for. Understand your personal and professional values so you can advocate for them more confidently." (LOVE this!) Joyride's March 2025 Book of the Month is Women Behind the Wheel by Nancy Nichols. Since their inception cars have defined American culture, but until quite recently car histories were largely written by and about men—with little attention given to the fascinating story of women and cars. This engaging non-fiction narrative illustrates how the car helped to define modern womanhood. Cars helped women secure the right to vote, changed the nature of romance, and influenced both fashion and child rearing customs. In the just over 100 years since their inception, cars have created possibilities even as they exposed women to new kinds of danger. Women Behind the Wheel explores the uniquely gendered landscape of the automobile, detailing the many reasons why cars are both more expensive and more dangerous for women drivers. The automobile is on the cusp of momentous change. As we advance into the era of electric, connected, and autonomous vehicles, Nichols shows us why we should hit the brakes and look back in the rear-view mirror at this long and fascinating history. ??
