Creating community for women to share, learn, experiment with AI & flipping the script on women representation in STEM.

关于我们

Women still make up less than 30% of all STEM related jobs, and AI exploration has felt no different with only a third of women experimenting with AI in their lives, compared to more than half of men. The truth is that people in underrepresented groups, like women, are often disenfranchised and devalued during moments of economic and societal transition like this — but it doesn't have to be that way. Let's experiment, share, and learn together. Our community is hosted on Slack & is focused on learn-by-doing. Our aim is to keep this space accessible, supportive, and engaging. Interested in joining us? Go to membership plans at www.womendefiningai.com to join! Interested in sponsoring this community and our mission to level the playing field for women at work? Email us at [email protected]. We're starting to consider sponsorships & finding ways to partner with companies that strive to tackle this same big mission and vision of changing work for the better.

Actively experimenting with AI is critical for your career growth. You’re not just learning a new tool—you’re enhancing your ability to express your functional expertise in ways that weren’t possible before. As you explore, you'll hit the limits of what AI can do today, and that’s an exciting place to be. When your understanding of AI finally catches up with your functional expertise, you’ve reached the current edge of innovation. At that point, your unique perspective is infinitely invaluable—it’s time to push the boundaries even further and shape how others in your field will use AI. If you want to be part of the early adopters shaping AI, I encourage you to join the Women Defining AI community. Module 1 kicks off today, and I can honestly say it’s been transformative for my career. The future belongs to those who combine their human experience with AI’s capabilities. Keep experimenting. Fascinating to see what this Charter #CharterSummit audience has found as their most valuable AI use cases. Lots of this showcases both 1) how broad AI can be across roles and industries and 2) how much our most common use cases are still so focused on content and writing. Very fun though to get to share some new and different use cases with this group in Nichole Sterling and my piece earlier this year: https://lnkd.in/gYZWtiRc As well as some demos of additional use cases on stage today straight from our Women Defining AI community! Like NotebookLM and helping us all manage information overload https://lnkd.in/gpxsxgpn Using LLMs to help us bring together multiple perspectives: https://lnkd.in/gVGznXGR Or using Claude artifacts to help everyone build custom tools for their work even without needing to be technical! https://lnkd.in/g8zPJpaz And inspiring some to maybe go even further and see the aha moment in putting the Lego blocks together and create supercharged LLM automations to change the jobs of 10 people not just 1. https://lnkd.in/gx9-fdH8 I loved how Aneesh Raman stated this in the prior session to ours: “stop saying AI and start using AI” especially our leaders and execs. I hope all of this inspires you with one additional ??idea to try today.

This is why collaborative learning in AI is so powerful. A recent interaction in our WDAI Module 2 cohort beautifully demonstrated the magic that happens when brilliant minds come together: Joelle Gropper Kaufman ??? hit a roadblock while developing a GPT for health profiling. Her AI wasn't consistently asking specific health-related questions as instructed, crucial for matching clients with appropriate fitness services. Our community quickly rallied: ? Lauren Irving, MBA shared practical tips on GPT consistency, suggesting sample input/output formats and careful source document curation. She highlighted the inherent challenges of achieving consistency with LLMs. ? Helen Lee Kupp provided insights on LLMs vs. traditional software, explaining how LLMs excel at processing unstructured data but can struggle with following very specific instructions consistently. ? Patty OBrien Novak proposed an innovative automation solution using tools like Make.com, suggesting a more structured input process. She even offered hands-on help with implementation. This exchange led to a broader discussion about balancing AI strengths with the need for consistent, structured outputs in certain applications. It highlighted the importance of understanding both the capabilities and limitations of different AI approaches when developing solutions. This interaction showcased the WDAI difference: ?? Real-world problems meet diverse expertise ?? Theoretical knowledge transforms into practical solutions ?? Support extends from ideation to implementation ?? Individual challenges become collective learning opportunities We're proud of how our members collaborate to solve complex AI challenges, turning potential roadblocks into rich learning experiences for all. Their exchange serves as a valuable case study in collaborative AI problem-solving. This is why community matters in AI development. Interested in joining the next cohort? AI-Powered Motivation: I am obsessed with this Google NotebookLM use case that turns your Linkedin profile into a personalized hype podcast ??. The best thing about the community at Women Defining AI is being inspired by everyone's use cases, experiments, and demos. And this ??genius idea came from Sheena Miles, MSc. Here's how you can try this in less than 5 minutes: ? Go to notebooklm.google.com ??Start a new notebook? ??Add your linkedin profile as a Link/URL source ??Then find the section (bottom right) where you can generate an "Audio Overview" > Press generate > Wait a few minutes... and then listen to your personalized podcast all about you! Give yourself a Friday boost of motivation and fun ??. Don't believe me? Check out all the GREAT snippets about my co-founder Nichole Sterling (she has no idea I did this until... well this post...!)
