October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and WCPI is proud to honor the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), a groundbreaking bipartisan law that has transformed the fight against domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse. Did you know that 1 in 4 women experience severe intimate partner violence in their lifetime? Domestic violence transcends age, race, gender, and socioeconomic status, affecting countless individuals. Many suffer in silence but recognizing the warning signs can help save lives. Yesterday we partnered with Girls Inc. to host Take Our Daughters to Congress Day. This year’s Take Our Daughters to Congress Day event hosted nearly 50 girls from five different states and seven Members of Congress and senior congressional staff. The girls had the opportunity to virtually meet women Members of Congress and senior congressional staff, learn about their experiences, and envision themselves as future leaders. #GirlsontheHill

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This year, an estimated 310,720 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. WCPI is grateful to the Bipartisan Women's Caucus for their leadership in passing the 1990 Breast and Cervical Cancer Mortality Prevention Act, which has been instrumental in expanding access to life-saving screenings. Let’s continue raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting ongoing research. #BreastCancerAwareness?
