Where women lead, change follows

关于我们

Women's Funding Network strives to build a world where every woman and girl has the resources to achieve her full potential. We do that by galvanizing the financial power and influence of gender equity funders to address and solve critical, complex social issues ranging from poverty to global security. Our Partnership for Women’s Prosperity initiative has moved 43,200 no- and low-income women in over 100 communities around the United States out of poverty and into secure jobs. Our values - equality, partnership, transparency, diversity, and inclusion - guide everything we do, every day.

Women’s Funding Network, in partnership with Candid, is excited to introduce our Intersectional Dashboard Design Cohort. With deep experience in demographic data, qualitative and quantitative research, database administration, and analytics, members of the cohort will design and build an interactive resource that facilitates a more nuanced view of the nonprofit landscape. The tool will enable users to run comparative analyses on executive leadership trends by race and gender within contexts such as location, organization size, and operating budget. This partnership meets a community need to apply an intersectional lens to data analysis and enables funders and nonprofits to gain insight into disparities masked by aggregated data. With data sourced from the Demographics via Candid dataset, the tool will provide a quantitative baseline to evaluate and build upon equity strategies. Work on the project will begin in November 2024. The outcome of this U.S. presidential election is a sobering reminder that expanding human rights is the fight of our lifetime. What’s needed to win that fight has not changed: grassroots leadership, globally-informed national collaboration and shared analysis, and the resources to get the job done. Despite the presidential outcome, there were some inspiring wins on Election Day thanks in part to the work of women’s foundations. Abortion rights advocates at the state level worked tirelessly to build coalitions and motivate voters to turn out to expand abortion rights in 7 out of 10 states where it was on the ballot. Another proud moment was passing Prop 1 in New York — a state constitutional amendment that enshrines reproductive freedom and protects against discrimination because of someone’s gender, age, ethnicity, pregnancy status, disability status, or whether they’re LGBTQ+ — which the New York Women's Foundation was central in advocating for and helping get passed. And we were also inspired by the Senate victories of Angela Alsobrooks in Maryland and Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester in Delaware, which marks the first time in our country’s history that more than one Black woman will be serving in the Senate. Despite underinvestment, women’s funds play a key role in advancing gender equity. Now is the time to fund our network for the long-term work ahead. Knowing what a second Trump administration may hold, we need philanthropy’s greater-than-ever investment in gender and racial equity movement leaders. Their light will safeguard local and state legislation that can show us the way out of darkness. The project of democracy isn’t about a single election. It isn’t about a single demographic or zip code. It’s about all of us. It’s about not giving up. Join us in committing to the work ahead. We won’t stop until we’ve built a country where everyone has a chance to thrive.

?? With Europe facing a massive migration crisis, it's more important than ever to adopt policies that are just and inclusive. Kavita Ramdas, a globally recognized advocate and Robert Bosch Academy Fellow, argues for a feminist approach to foreign policy that dismantles patriarchal, colonial, and racist systems while centering peace, gender equity, and environmental justice. Let's build a future that protects the most vulnerable and breaks down borders—literally and figuratively.
