WEN offers job-search training and resources; individualized coaching; and professional case management services to unemployed and underemployed women living in the greater Kansas City area. The Women’s Employment Network (WEN) was founded in 1986 by Beth K. Smith and the late Marjorie Powell Allen. These two community leaders had a vision of helping women transform their lives to become economically self-sufficient through sustained employment. WEN serves women in the bi-state Kansas City metropolitan area. Our target population includes women that are age 18 - 62 with a high school diploma or the equivalent. These women may be unemployed, laid off, going through a career transition, returning to the workforce, or displaced homemakers. WEN works with these women to identify individual barriers to employment and to create a plan of action to overcome those barriers.

I am a founding member of the Practicing Inclusion-Employee Powered, Community of Practice. The bank has sponsored a table for Women's Employment Network (WEN) two years in a row, of which I am an Ambassador & alumni. I’ve worked with Harvesters & Junior Achievement. Exciting News for WEN! WEN is pleased to be a Union Pacific Community Ties Grant Program recipient! This support is instrumental in helping us continue our mission help women raise their self-esteem and achieve economic independence through sustained employment. Recently our team had the unique opportunity to visit Union Pacific's Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive at Union Station Kansas City. It was a memorable experience meeting Union Pacific employees and learning more about their legacy of service and dedication to the community. A huge thank you to Union Pacific Railroad for supporting the work we do and investing in the future of women and families in Kansas City! #CommunityPartnerships
