Our mission is to change women’s lives through employment and empower them with the stepping stones to self-sufficiency.
关于我们
Women's Bean Project is a social enterprise with the mission to uplift women through employment and empower them to be change-makers in their own lives. We hire women who have struggled with chronic unemployment and faced barriers to creating the future they deserve. Participants of our program receive full-time pay as they develop job readiness skills, discover their talents, and strengthen their confidence. With these stepping stones toward success, our graduates are able to support themselves and their families, serving as role models for future generations.

35 years ago, Jossy Eyre started Women's Bean Project in the basement of the Gathering Place, a daytime shelter in downtown Denver. Jossy used $500 of her own money to establish the Bean Project starting with one staff member, two program participants, and three products: 10 Bean Soup, Black Bean Soup, and Spicy Split Pea soup. This month, we celebrate 35 Years as Women's Bean Project. To thank our community for supporting our journey, we're offering free standard shipping for any womensbeanproject.com order over $35. https://lnkd.in/gwHyEzbU #nonprofit #nonprofitgifts #socialenterprise

Working with sober women, Women’s Bean Project has wisdom to share when it comes to the life of sobriety. Not everything can be controlled in the pursuit of sober living. Some things you can control when recovering: -Identifying your triggers. To be where you need to be, you need to know what to stay away from. Assess the communities and physical spaces you are a part of, how do they affect you? When possible, removing yourself from negative environments allows you to foster healthy habits and relationships. -Set specific and achievable goals for yourself, it allows sobriety to become attainable and measurable. Sobriety is not a race to be beat, but a constant and recurring decision to make. -Access support. This is an important way to hold yourself accountable. Group, individual and family therapy are all successful treatment options towards a life of sobriety. Those in your life want to help you, recovery is easier with community. -Celebrate your milestones. It is easy to get caught up in only focusing on what you want your long-term future to be, but acknowledging and celebrating where you are in your process is just as important. Foster your steps with pride. #nationalrecoverymonth #soberliving #sobriety #strengthinsobriety

Sobriety is a lifelong journey of recovery and becoming. Some of those who have spent time at the Women’s Bean Project can give firsthand accounts to the challenges of a life of sobriety. Brittany from “I Am Women's Bean Project” has said, “Getting sober is really lonely, you have to change everything about your life… A few months into my program I celebrated my one year of sobriety and that was something I honestly thought I would never see.” The Women’s Bean Project offers discussion-based sobriety support groups every week. This group is centered around the women’s successes and struggles with sobriety, whether firsthand or through impact from others. The Women’s Bean Project recommends other Denver resources like WellPower, Mile High Behavioral Healthcare, and Denver CARES, who all offer physical and mental health support for one’s journey. There is great strength in asking for help! #nationalrecoverymonth #soberliving #sobriety #strengthinsobriety

As we celebrate the 35 years since Women’s Bean Project’s founding, and after 21 years of serving this organization, it is time for me to announce I will be stepping down as the CEO of Women’s Bean Project, effective June 30, 2025. As all announcements in this vein, this is bittersweet for me. Leading this organization has been a great privilege and has shaped my perspective on leadership and the needs of women in communities around the world. We all know Women’s Bean Project is a special organization, and I have had the honor of seeing firsthand how special. I am proud of what we have accomplished during my tenure: ? Watching hundreds of women overcome barriers to employment and keeping jobs for the long-term, reunite with their children and affect the next generation in their families. ? Overcoming a financial crisis and growing organizational revenue from less than $500,000 per year to over $3 million. ? Building a model of employment social enterprise that keeps in mind the needs of the women served as well as the business that creates the jobs. ? Helping Women’s Bean Project become known as a model of social enterprise across the US and abroad. ? Leading the move from Firehouse No. 10 to 1300 W. Alameda Avenue Read the full announcement: https://conta.cc/4e0tqYt

Maybe it's spending time with your loved ones again, cooking, or learning a new activity. #nationalrecoverymonth #soberliving #sobriety #strengthinsobriety
