Members of Woman’s Life Chapter 814 St. Clair, Michigan, created a gift certificate board that was raffled off as a fundraiser for the St. Clair High School girls tennis team. Chapter members raised $1000, including Matching Funds from Woman’s Life, to help the team with tournament fees and equipment for the upcoming season.

In honor of International Women's Day, we want to honor our founder, Bina West, a schoolteacher from Capac, Michigan. She saw firsthand the hardships a family could face when a mother died, and was determined to do something about it. In 1892, at the age of 24, Bina founded the Woman's Benefit Association (now Woman's Life), one of the first organizations in the United States to offer life insurance to women. The organization also provided jobs and career opportunities for women when very few such opportunities existed. Travelling throughout the country and around the world, Bina helped women achieve financial security for themselves and their families and supported causes that were important to them. Members of Woman’s Life Chapter 757 Port Huron, Michigan, provided dinner and breakfast for guests of the Blue Water Area Rescue Mission, an overnight warming shelter for men experiencing homelessness. Mostaccioli and salad were provided by a local restaurant and members purchased breakfast food, dinner rolls and desserts. Thank you for answering the call to fight hunger and homelessness in America!
