Social Data Science B.S., Graduate @ UMD

As my time living in the city of College Park draws to an end, one of the organizations I'm most proud to be a part of is WMUC Radio. Alongside Kai Bradner, we have successfully run a radio talk show on UMD's FM station 90.5. We joined knowing we wanted some way to encapsulate our experiences while providing insight to rising students. Between stories, jokes, social issues, and our own takes on life, we continue to share, laugh, and enjoy spending our Sundays with the fans. This journey has shown me the value of taking the time to reflect on what goes on in our lives and the world over the course of a week while finding interesting ways to express them to an audience. Our show takes place in a conversational hour-long talk show format with relevant music sprinkled throughout. We began Chaos and the Come Up, not because of the normal college experience we had, but to bring comfort to anyone lost in the chaos of their own "come up". https://wmuc.umd.edu/ https://lnkd.in/eZBX2vWx

As my time in College Park slowly approaches its end I feel much pride over what I have accomplished at the University of Maryland. One of the things that has helped create such a special experience is my radio show with Bilal Nyle Zafar on WMUC FM. Planning and recording our show: The Chaos and The Come Up. Each week I am left in awe of the power of the radio. Our show mainly operates as an hour-long conversation where my co-host and I discuss a plethora of issues of genuine stories of the chaos of life, important social issues, and good music. Learning how to operate a radio board has opened doors for me I wouldn't have dared to reach without the help of WMUC Radio. I hope to continue building our show as we advance both our personal and professional lives. Tune in every Sunday at 6 pm FM to hear our voices. We aim to create an interactive and inclusive community and would love for you to join us as we brace for the chaos and the come-up Link to listen https://wmuc.umd.edu/, Instagram link-https://lnkd.in/e9qx58EV

I am excited to announce that I graduated this May with a BA in Government and Politics from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, University of Maryland, specializing in International Relations and minoring in Spanish! ???? As I embark on this new chapter, I am deeply grateful for the experiences and connections I've made at WMUC Radio. Serving as the Zine Director, I oversaw the release of two editions of our small magazine, Requiem. This role honed my skills in project management, organization, graphic design, and community building. I am incredibly proud of what my team and I accomplished! ?? View our spring edition here: https://lnkd.in/euktmb26 I also recently concluded my internship with the U.S. Census Bureau, where I contributed to the Census of Juveniles in Residential Placement. This experience, as part of the UMD Fellows Program, provided me with valuable skills in research, data collection, and survey methodology.

    Let’s Goooo, Maryland!!

Its about the journey. The places & stops along the way. It was Byrd Stadium back in the day. Now it’s SECU Stadium. Either way, it’s where my broadcast career started calling University of Maryland football games on WMUC Radio as a student. I thought for sure I’d be the Voice of the #Terps one day. I’d be the next Johnny Holliday. That was 1994. Here we are 30 years later, after a 25 year broadcast career. Johnny is still calling games and I’m with One Maryland Collective as Director of Corporate Sales. And I love it. We have a chance to directly affect Maryland’s ability to win games & contend for titles. Let’s Go!! What a long, strange trip it’s been!

Hello everyone! I just finished moving into NYC for the summer (more on that later this week), so I wanted to share a Spring 2024 semester recap! I spent two days each week reporting on Congress and the Supreme Court for Capital News Service. As an aspiring political reporter, this experience was a dream come true. I was able to jump into Capitol Hill reporting, covering legislation, oral arguments, protests, hearings, and press conferences. I also had opportunities to work on longer stories (one on the Equal Rights Amendment and profiles of two Senate candidates), attend the State of the Union, and meet so many inspiring hill reporters. I wrote 17 single-byline stories and worked on two multi-byline stories.?My stories were published in The Baltimore Sun, The Daily Record, The Capital Gazette and many other newspapers across the state. For The Diamondback, I continued writing on the city and campus development beat about the College Park business scene, historic preservation efforts, and occasionally on local politics. On Fridays, I freelanced for Montgomery Community Media. I mostly wrote about the Maryland General Assembly, the Senate race, and local elections. Finally, I produced an entertainment radio show, "Drop the Pop", for WMUC Radio every other Monday. This semester, I focused on improving the flow of our show and?transitions. I’m so excited for this summer and my last year at Merrill College!
