Hello everyone! I just finished moving into NYC for the summer (more on that later this week), so I wanted to share a Spring 2024 semester recap!
I spent two days each week reporting on Congress and the Supreme Court for Capital News Service. As an aspiring political reporter, this experience was a dream come true. I was able to jump into Capitol Hill reporting, covering legislation, oral arguments, protests, hearings, and press conferences. I also had opportunities to work on longer stories (one on the Equal Rights Amendment and profiles of two Senate candidates), attend the State of the Union, and meet so many inspiring hill reporters. I wrote 17 single-byline stories and worked on two multi-byline stories.?My stories were published in The Baltimore Sun, The Daily Record, The Capital Gazette and many other newspapers across the state.
For The Diamondback, I continued writing on the city and campus development beat about the College Park business scene, historic preservation efforts, and occasionally on local politics.
On Fridays, I freelanced for Montgomery Community Media. I mostly wrote about the Maryland General Assembly, the Senate race, and local elections.
Finally, I produced an entertainment radio show, "Drop the Pop", for WMUC Radio every other Monday. This semester, I focused on improving the flow of our show and?transitions.
I’m so excited for this summer and my last year at Merrill College!
